I just found this on the freaks board but it was "borrowed" from another gang board. It's about building stats and the strategy to use to gain both as well as level.
Sorry for the cut & paste but can't link it.

Training stats evenly will get you beat everytime.
If I remember correctly there was a HUGE talk about this somewhere (goes to check HBW2).....
This is a direct copy from my other Gang's board on HBW2:

Asking which stat to train is like asking whether to pick Rock, Paper or Scissors. Each is effective against a different type of opponent and each has its weakness.
With that said there are really only two ways to go: Emphasize Strength or emphasize Power/Speed in combo. And when I say emphasize, I don't mean just slightly more, I mean double-triple the other(s). To give you an idea, these are my stats on HW2:
Speed: 2449.8035
Power: 509.3319
Strength: 8111.015
Two Strategies:
Focus on Strength
By focussing on Strength, it doesn't matter if the other guy gets all the hits in against you when they're for 0 damage. With the above stats on HW2 I'm not in the top20 fighters, but only the top 8 can do any damage to me.
Focus on Power/Speed combo
You can't just focus on Speed or your hits won't do any damage. You can't just focus on Power or you'll never get a hit in so you need the two in combination.
The worst combination is the balanced approach. With the balanced approach both the Stength and the Power/Speed guys will beat you even if they have slightly lower stat totals. So all you're left with is beating other balanced people with less stats.
This does not apply to hobos "on their way up" When you are just climbing the ranks to get to level 25 so you can train Intel then go ahead and train your stats to about 100 each (Actually all you need is 100 Speed and a good set of weapons and you can make it to level 25 easily). When you get to level 25 and have maxed your Intel, then you can decide which way you want to focus your stat training.
Let's look at some various ways of training 1000 stats
