Cant wait to get in the air but might as well get equipped properly first.  I don't think many WWII pilots went into battle in a Sopwith Camel :)

To be honest, im not sure especially the Germans had much left training and equipment wise as the war grew older..... but i can understand where youre coming from. Need a few basics to feel comfy.

And dont hesitate to mess things up for the "vets"! The water is warm, come on in :).

It's nice that you are taking it slow and trying to be prepared, a novel idea for the summer (you'll get this shortly ;)  ), but, like Schatzi said, don't worry about messing anything up for the vets.

Heck, I'm not even quite sure what you mean by that :D

stumble around and make a nuisance of myself.  I've been reading the last years threads in the help forum and I simply can't take it anymore.  After work tonight I'm going to go get me a stick, download, and start practicing :)

Thanks to everyone who have already been a huge help to me.  Guess I'll give the kids back the Xbox I've found my game for life :)

Just to give yoiu a heads up.....Schatzi (German for "sweetheart") is a delightful LADY veterinarian living in Hanover.

You can tell she has masochistic tendencies, both because she prefers the ancient Hurricane I, and because she hangs around with the likes of us AH'ers.....

Dichotomy...I wish all newbs were like you.

There ain't nothing that'll get you more ignored than the question..."how do I take off?"

If I may make a suggestion.....join missions when you can. Here's why

-you'll be flying with a gaggle of others..less chance of getting jumped on, therefore...longer flights
-the chatter in the mission will help you learn about  targets and strategies
just listen and follow, guys in the mission will help you too.
-you'll be exposed to a variety of aircraft

Another thing.....you're going to have to remember that you have to log off once in a while to sleep, or work, or eat.

Autopilot is for retreiving beer and/or paying the rent on it.

Thanks :)

I had to laugh at myself last night ... got set up and planes on the runway, engine is running, kids are scarfing pizza, and... the plane won't go anywhere.  Now what does auto take off mean?   It means take off and then i'll fly.  Took me a minute to realize that I had to throttle up... so I'm full throttle going down the runway and I grab the stick and rearrange a hanger... ::lol

More practice tonight and through the week and I'll probably get online either Sunday or Monday at the latest.  I'm REALLY interested in the missions play, tactics, teamwork, etc...

PS.. I thought AFK or autopilot meant 'A Free Kill'? :lol

well, auto takeoff will get ya airborne...I use it because I'm lazy.

Shatzi is outstanding for helping people. either in the MA (main arena) or one on one in the TA (training arena), although I've never asked her to help my sorry ass.

And like I say before, missions help out with the questions of , "well, now that I'm up...where do I go? What do I do?"

And your concept of AFK is correct.  I sometimes think it's the only way I get kills.

Very true.

Unfortunately, every time I type "anybody here AFK?" nobody answers....
