The Best of Aces High
« on: July 08, 2006, 11:41:25 PM »
A great number of us have been playing Flight Sims for a long time.  And what draws most people to Flight Sims is the virtual reality of being in air to air combat.  The Main Areana is fun.....generally no pressure just try to engage in combat and come out on top.  Missions are fun but they are temporary.  Scenarios however are the closest thing to reality that Aces High has to offer.

Our CM Team has come up with what I think is a very exciting Scenario.  I've been here quite a few years and I am most excited about this Scenario.  A great deal of people that rarely fly the MA will be signed up for this one.  Vets from AW, WB, and Beta Aces High.  You'll see the best of the best.

ROC has done great planning on planesets and Task Forces. Raptor has done a fantastic job on the new Terrain.  I've probably forgotten some and I apologize for that.  Someone can fill in the blanks here please.

If you want organized Combat, closer to the reality of Combat, even though this is virtual....this is what you want to experience. This is why you came to Aces High.

You and your Squadmates will have responsiblities.  You will fly in formation.  You'll have an objective and you will have to follow orders and work as a team to accomplish your goal.  Your loadout of fuel and ord will be very important.  Listening to vox transmissions in a Scenario while in Combat sounds as close to the real thing as possible.  You'll hear "Clear Radio!"  "Clear Radio"  Incoming from SSW hdg approximately two zero degrees alt is 21K." " Grid postion 8-6 5" Then vox really perks up as flights are given orders for intercept etc. What heading to take to intercept and rate of climb etc.

If the virtual reality of Combat is what you signed on for at Aces High you owe it to yourself and the 15 dollars you spend to try one on for size.  This is the one!  Located in the Sea of Japan.  Matching the USN & USAAF against the Imperial Forces of Japan.  Get involved.  You won't regret it!

Scenarios are what I fly for.

In my opinion, scenarios are to the main arena what the main arena is to offline play -- a whole new dimension of fun.

I've always wanted to particpate in a scenario, but I have the bad luck of being in a time zone that makes it impossible. No one's fault; it's just the way it is.

Have fun you guys, and remember: Say everything twice! Say everything twice! :O

All Operation Downfall frames runs at 8pm Eastern Daylight time, starting July 22nd, 29th, August 5th and 12th.

That's 6 pm Rocky Mountain time so you shouldn't have a problem.  Picnic with the wife and kids in the afternoon and fly while they watch videos and have popcorn in the evening. :)
Easy in-game again.
Since Tour 19 - 2001

I'd agree 100% -- scenarios, especially when balanced, are the best activities in AH, bar none.

My memories of my first one, Battle of Britain a few years ago, still rank among the best for any game, any time, ever.

If you can be there -- even for a few frames - by all means do so!

Im going to try, but i cannot participate in one at my best capacity until the 25th. (I cannot fly most aircraft without my computer crashing here at my dads, but i go back to my mums after bootcamp. I can fly 110s for a while though, but those arent an option)

I try to take part in all scenarios (missed last one because of work), but in this case I'll give it a miss.

Sorry, but "what if", fantasy scenarios are not my cup of tea.

But as correctly stated at the very top, scenarios are one of the great aspects af AH2.

They are all "what if" scenarios, as we don't have the number of people, the time, the living conditions, etc. to make these into reproductions of true historical battles.

For me, scenarios are wonderfully fun, regardless of topic of the battle.
