Just saw on ESPN that Montoya will be joining the Nextel Cup Circuit next year.

He'll run some Busch Series races after the F1 season concludes this year.

he will have to learn that trick where you bump the car in front of you and put him into the wall.

also the "debris on track" yellow flags to bunch up the field when they get too spread out.

I don't care who joins up...I'm quitting watching it after they let the "Toyotas" in.

Will you stop watching NASCAR because they let a new brand in?

Because NASCAR has always been US brand names..they continue to make changes the fans don't like.

Big ones have been the generic cars that since the early 90's have been less and less like the cars theyare supposed to represent(and will be worse when they come out with the standard NASCAR then there will be no differences), and this stupid last 10 race shootout for the championship. I mean a guy can be consistanly good all year, then screw up one race in the last 10 and end up coming in 5th or 6th..what kinda crap is that? Not to mention that they are getting to anal about the "rubbing" that goes on, or fining guys points/money for accidently using a profane word on TV. And lastly, instead of repairing old tracks that have been part of the sport since the begining (like Rockinham, Darlington will be next) they are replacing them with non interesting generic tracks..even the classic race names are gone and sold out to sponsors (The Classic Firecracker 400 at daytona is the "Pepsi 400" now)

It's just going downhill, and I think putting a damn Jap name in the mix will not sit well with a core fanbase that notoriuosly does not like cars from any country but the USA.

As I recall they used lots of tires.

Lesser sport? I will defend the fact that NASCAR has one of the most demanding schedules out there. Plus there are always about twice as many cars starting the race than there are in F1 or indy..Only 5 days between tracks that require much different setups and driving styles..not to mention as they said in "Days of Thunder" NASCARs are twice as heavy, with tires half as wide as Indy and F1.

They're gonna try to get him in the Cup for a race or few too.  He's gotta qualify to run the Daytona 500 next year.

They had a clip of an interview with him during the race at Chicagoland today, and he expects to get stomped on for the first season.

On the Toyotas coming to NASCAR..... not sure what I think.  Might be interesting.... I know one of the Toyotas will be 00 and belong to Micheal Waltrip Racing, primary sponsers are Dominos and Burger King (we got a flyer at the store about it).

I guess if General Motors gets bought out by the Nissan-Renault partnership, all the Monte Carlos will have to drop out because they are not "American" enough. Maybe Dodge should drop out because they are really owned by Germans.

Who would want a Toyota built in Ohio, when you could drive a Monte Carlo built in Mexico?

it will be a "toyota" in name only just like the "fords" "chevys" "pontiacs" etc are just purpose built race cars that look a little like the cars you see on the street. NASCAR lost me when they stopped racing REAL cars and went to fake "stock cars".

how many fords, chevys etc use carburetors today?

5 bolt wheels, hand pumped jacks, tires that only last 20 laps, smaller gas tanks to force more pit stops, 3 lap yellow flags for no reason except to keep the field bunched up so after 500 miles of "racing" the fans can have a "close finish".

there is big money here, it's called SHOW BUSINESS.
