Fester,

According to the RAF Museum the max overload was 700 rounds.

Standard 20mm load: 150 rounds per gun.
Maximum Overload 20mm load: 175 rounds per gun.

150 x 4 = 600

175 x 4 = 700

whels information is incorrect.  It is a mistake that stems from the fact that 1 ammo box was shared by 2 20mm cannon.  Some authors saw the box listed at 300 rounds and believed that each gun had its own box.  In fact there are two boxes, each with 300 (350 if overloaded) rounds in two belts, one for each gun drawing from that box.

The Browning .303 load is also a total of 2,000 rounds, 500 per gun or an overload total of 3,120 rounds, 780 per gun.

:) I thought that one looked familiar... though the model I have hasn't got the red rectangular bits above the radiators.

Heh,I would have thought they'd have gone for the HT-C markins    ;)

Finally the RAF are getting some much need rides!    :)

this mossie already has a distinct advantage over the wb mossie VI.

you will actually be able to look around from a perspective much more realistic than wbs 2d art shows.

just hope this thing dosnt have external views.

One thing's for sure- you're going to see far fewer Ju88's and B26's for a while...

Fester,

No kidding.  The WB cockpit made it nigh unusable.

Kieran,

This Mosquito might be OK at killing B-26s and Ju-88s, but it sure won't replace them in the bomber role.  It doesn't have a bomb sight and can "only" carry 2,000lbs of bombs.

Even a Mosquito B.IV would only have a minimal impact.  The bombload 2,000lb is just too light destroy much.  The Mosquito B.XVI can carry a 4,000lb bomb, but that would probably be perked.

On the other hand I still think that the Tu-2 is coming in 1.08 and that probably will have a significant impact on the numbers of B-26s and Ju-88s in the MA.

milnko,

minus,

That's because Mossies are Ju88 death.

Mosquitoes destroyed 324 Ju88s during WWII, and that wasn't counting the Ju188s that they destroyed.  Mosquito FB.VIs were responsible for many of those kills.

That all said, Bf109G-10s, Fw190D-9s, P-51s, P-47s, La-5FNs, La-7s and Typhoons are all going to be Mossie death, so take heart.

Mossie should NOT have external view... sure it a multicrew aircraft, but side by side seating should not equate to permitting an external view.
The only issue is.... if its hard coded that all "bombers" get external.  As mossie will surely be in the "bomber" class.

Seems to me this plane can be employed very effectively in the JABO role.

Am glad we will finally get it; it's one plane I've been missing in the planeset for some time.

I'd now like a LW bird that can carry more than 1 500kg and 4 50kh (next to useless) eggs  :).

I'd love to see the gun camera footage of the Mk XVIII from this Mossie - Ju 88 scrap.

"On 10 March four Mk VIs which escorted two XVIIIs to an area about 30 miles north of Gijon on the Spanish coast, got into a vicious dogfight with eight to ten Ju 88s flying top cover for a German convoy of four destoyers and a U-boat.  One of the Ju 88s immediately fell to a head-on attack by the four VIs and a second was shot down into the sea in flames shortly afterwards.  The XVIIIs, meanwhile, went after the convoy.  S/L Tony Phillips carried out four attacks on the U-boat and F/O Doug Turner, two.  They damaged a destroyer and Phillips blasted a Ju 88 out of the sky with four shots from his Molins gun.  One of the shells literally tore an engine from the Ju 88 and it spiralled down into the sea."
