The day has come...Tomorrow morning, 7am I go in for Intra Lasik eye surgery!  I'm pretty nervous, but I do have a lot of faith in my surgeon, and I am hoping for the best!  Post surgery I expect to wear blinders for atleast 24 hours, and I dont think I want to strain my eyes looking at a computer screen for atleast another week...Just thought i'd let everyone know, and I hope everyone enjoys the new map this week!  If anyone is considering this surgery feel free to PM me, and once I get back on the net i'd be happy to tell you about my experience and try and answer any questions that I can...

I personally know of twoguys that have had it.  Both were done over 10 years ago.

they threw away their glasses, so that should tell ya how it went.

I've seen it done on a documentary. It's fairly interesting stuff. I won't upset you with the details, but the blinders are so you don't poke the surface of the eye, not so you don't strain them.

Once the surgery is done, aside from healing the outer surface of the eye (which is the part that has to heal) you'll be good to go. The recuperation is just from an incision, not from the laser.

I've had numerous eye surguries mate, It isn't that bad but when they are done and they let you get up it is going to be slightly painful to focus on things and turn your eyes. But it will be about 90% within 24 hours.

I had it done 5 years ago.. it's no more or less comfortable than getting your teeth cleaned.  Do take the valium or whatever they give you when they say though because it helps.  Truth be told I had it done at 4:15 and I drove to the beer store at 8:00.  Stupid yes, but doable as well.  

The only downside I have is that I'm extremely sensitive to bright lights now but I can see better than ever.

Had it done also, whole process from the time I sat down in the chair to being finished took about 15-20 min tops for both eyes. Only part that was uncomfortable was when they place this ring on your eye to keep it stable. and it wasn't that bad at all.
After it was done and I was home, after the numbing drops wore off my eyes felt some discomfort and scratchy. That lasted for just a few hours. The next morning I felt fine and could see great. Was a pain wearing the visor to sleep for a few days but not that big a deal.
Overall experiance on a scale of 1 to 10 being 1 least painfull and uncomfortable and 10 being massively painful and uncomfortale I would rate it a 2. It was a piece of cake.


By the way I lost my Seeing Eye Dog so if anyone sees him let me know please.

Had it done 10 years ago.  Best thing I've ever done for myself, had glasses very young.  Eyes do get sensitive for a time but use anti inflamatory drops consistently and things will be great.    

I can see in the MA at night too!  lol

Well guys...29 hours later and the surgery looks like a MAJOR sucess!  I went from 20/60, to 20/10 in both eyes!  20/10 is even better then what my surgeon expected, and apparantly I am one of a handful of patients who actually achieves such outstanding results!!!  I still have some small puffyness or cloudyness around white objects or lights, but with rest those should be gone within the week...Well I just wanted to check in and let yall know how the surgery went...I dont wanna stare at this screen to long and ruin it! haha

$4,100 total for intaLASIK...Keep in mind I got the most up to date and expensive surgery, not to mention I live in Fairfield County, Connecticut, where the price in undoubtedly inflated more so then other regions of the country...If you can swing it then I say go ahead and do it...incredible is the only way to describe it!

I am still on the waiting list as I am USAF, and was suppose to get it done about a month ago but got bumped as I am PCSing soon so they are having me wait til I get to the states to do it.  I started wearing glasses at 13 years old and am now 27.... all through high school, college and the military I have always hated wearing them.  Hopefully mine goes as good as yours.  I already have sensitive eyes and hate that 'Evil Day Star' (aka: The Sun), but at least I will be able to just pop on some sunglasses whenever I need too!    Once again, congrats!
