kev look at the exhaust patterns from the engine in that first pic and how they flow back over the wing and the spots behind the vents are not covered in oil and soot like the rest of the wing.

everyone gets that wrong hehe :)

its the opposite of what most think it should look like the oil dosnt come out of those vents it misses them entirely most of the time.

also note the exhaust is displaced to the left on each engine.

its all very visible in the first pic guppy posted
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

OK

Found a wartime pic, anti icing boots had been removed.

Dan - Problem isn't putting the olive darb round the front of the nacelles, it's the curve. Will work on it but there's really, really bad stretching.

Cit - Pic look like there is staining benid those slots, will look at the staining again though.

The exhaust stains look like two separate black streaks with nothing in between. Brings to mind inline engine exhaust streaks, more than it does radial. That's just one dissenting opinion, though.

Tried to blow up the picture, with part of the wing.  Nothing coming from the vents it appears.

Those vents allow the wing to breath and vent fuel vapor.
Easy in-game again.

Re: exhaust staining. If you look the exhaust stains tend to track inward towards the fuselage. To the left on the starboard wing and to the right on the port wing.

That stain looks particularly nasty. I'm guessing some sort of liquid streaked out and soaked the top of the wing at some time. It looks more like a liquid stain than an exhaust stain.

Surely the vents do not "exhaust" from the manifold, but they do get dirty. If you look at the front of the wings you will see intakes. I don't know if they specifically cool the oil or other parts, but they cool something. And where you have cooling vents you have streaks, smears, dirty stains. Or, outright leaks! The photo doesn't have enough quality to show any stains there. It wouldn't have engine exhaust, but it would have some staining. On mine I tried to make it a different color of stain, but it got washed away in the engine exhaust. Go figure.
