No using a large WWII bomber as an ack wagon to defend a base under attack is bogus. The B is for Bomber, not Interceptor.

Have you ever tried to up a set of buffs at a field under attack? You are more populat then jessica simpson in hot pants!  I dont think "flak wagon" is an accurate term...Dont forget that the guns dont start shooting until wheels up, if you ever make it that far...

and the whole arguement about bombers being able to be flown without ords, is that all it takes is at a small airfield, 6 rockets to disable them...(2 rox per ammo bunker)....What the point of BH's if you can take them out this way

If its that big of a deal to fly a bomber without ords then when you get on the runway drop all your ords and then takeoff you can take off and drop at the same time. You might get the bomber in the air and get some kill's but please dont up a bomber with me over the base because thats just target practice for me. But like I said just drop ords when you start to roll they wont blow up and then your not loaded up.:aok

Oh and by the way if that was all so afective in WWII dont you think you would have read about bombers doing interseptions?:O

red> you cant up any bombers if the ords or down .. therefor you cant drop the bombs ..  you can up Ju-88's though .. but not 25's or 26's 17's etc. cause it requires you have a load of bombs to take off..  and for those that dont know i am not in for the points .. i am in it for the win.. and honest those that know how i play .. i up a set of 88's til the field is uncapped.. if they run out of ammo or shot down they cant cap the field very well ..  i would love to use the .50's on the other bombers rather then the puny 88 guns.

I don't know, but I'll play your silly game....... Was it supposed to happen?

No I never have tried to up from a field under attack with buffs Cav. I have a hard enough time trying to up a fighter under attack.
Again why would anybody want to take buffs up without ords? Other then to take advantage of the three buff formation firepower. Your sure not taking off to bomb anything. Therefore if the ord is gone and there are no bombs at that field, then it makes sense there should be no bombers.

Whats the point of BH at small fields if they can be taken out with just two rockets, you ask?
Now you have a point there. Maybe they should remove the BH from small fields
:aok

Well I can see the arguement about the B-17's and lancs ect....but I still dont get it about the A-20...It is a bomber/attack aircraft...Keyword attack!  am I the only one here that thinks 8 forward firing MG's is a legitimate attack platform?  Like I said it can kill jeep,m3,m8, M-16, LVT2, LVT4, and can turn ostwinds into useless hunks of metal...  Thats 3/5ths of the vehicles in the game!!!!!!

Call me crazy, but that figure alone makes the A-20 a valid attack aircraft with just MG's.....

What GV's can the SBD and D3a kill with their mg's?

I agree with you on this Cav. The A20, JU88, and Mossie all had versions that were used as night fighters , or had versions with forward firing guns. These should be able to up with ord down IMO. Unfortunatly my opinon don't COAD.:)
I'm not real sure which version of the B25 had all the forward firing guns in it, but if we ever get it in the game it would be nice to see it flying with ord down.

My hostility towards buffs as ack wagons goes back to Warbirds in the mid 90's. People did that all the time, plus they had otto shooting for them. They didn't even have to aim the guns. Just troll through a furball, and pick up kills. So if my dislike for buffs being used to defend bases seems over the top..... Well theres why.
