Do You Ever Just Fly?
« on: July 17, 2006, 12:39:57 PM »
I had a very horrible Friday night and Saturday morning so, Saturday night, not really wanting to target practice, dogfight (or in my case going back to the tower about once a minute), but I did want to fly.  Turned on some calming music and took a P47 all over the map doing slow rolls, turns, flying inverted, managed to pull off an outside loop, and just.... FLEW.

Anybody else use AH instead of Xanax for stress relief in this manner?

Dichotomy one thing that you can do if you just want to relax is fly offline, take off from a field and then just practice flying through hangers ALWAYS keeping the hanger in view.

It gets you familier with all your views to where they become second nature and it teaches you how to be easy and fluid with the stick. Pick one hanger and work on setting the next pass up as you fly through.

Very relaxing.  You end up doing lazy loops setting up different hangers.

I use Micrsoft Flight simulator 2004 for this. Alot of times i'll fly the Wings of Power Mustang, P-47 or Focke wulf i have, which i believe are the most accurate flight sim flight models ever to be devised. Alot of other games are just a joke, besides in AH the scenery sucks, not in FS 2004 though, it's as close to real world flying as you'll get. :D

I'll try the flying through the hangers for sure but I was using my views quite a bit, doing low passes between mountains, and such.  It was just... mellow.  Wish I had a real plane to do that with but I'd already be a greasy spot somewhere in North Texas if I did. :)

Get the Japan map and just fly it offline looking at the scenery. That is an awsome map.

By the way I do it all the time.:aok

first you must master the hangers and VH, then move onto landing on the water tower or playing with the wind and time of day.

night time is real fun.

LOL - man, first time i d/l Ah1, i loaded up the offline arena and spent a good 30 mins looking for AI enemy planes to shoot down :) back in those days we had the HTC crew circling the field as friendlies.

If I'm not in the mood for the 200 crowd, or just feel like winding down, sometimes I'll  hop on offline and do the hanger flying stuff or pick a map and see what I can find, running on the deck or as you mention dodging hills and trees.

Raptor's Japan1 map is a beauty for exploring on the deck.

anyone ever find thos long avenues between thick forrest?

you are cruising down them at 300mph in your favorite plane and up ahead comes two trees in the path.....so....you just gotta do a knife edge pass and 'return of the jedi' those 200 foot tall apple trees.
