Damn.  I came in here thinking that Microsoft gave a giant "**** Off" to the European Union after they demanded that microsoft tells everyone the details of their system.

Pretty soon, everyone who wants can make windows ala Reardon Steel.

What would anyone want to copy Windows? There are so many better systems out there. If Henry Ford had the same dominance in the car market. We would all be driving slightly improved versions of the model T. Windows is the model T of the software market. Good for it's time but we need to move on!

Not necessarily so people can copy windows, but so that they can make programs that run better on windows.
