Very good book

I just finished reading My War by Colby Buzzell. The book is about his experiences in Iraq being in the Army. He was in a striker group and his main weapon was the M240. He also kept a blog while in Iraq. I thought it was one of the best books I have read. I highly suggest you all read it.

Thanks!  I am always on the lookout for great books.  Just finished Biggest Brother about Maj. Dick Winters.  Very inspiring read.  It was revealing to me that someone so in control in the battlefield but came home to great doubts about himself.  We are all human after all.

I think I read that one. I cant remember. All the books tend to blend together after awhile. Is that the one with pictures in the middle. And with one holding the American flag with the actor that played him in Band of Brothers?

Im starting In the Company of Soldiers -A chronicle of combat- by Rock Atkinson tonight. ANother book on Iraq. I believe it follows the 101st. I should be done by friday. I'll let you know how it goes.

By the way. The origanal book I suggested gave me a small feeling of what it is really like over there. Even tho not actually being there and seeing it I will never truely know what it was like.

No, I don't recall that pic being in it.  You may be thinking of the book Dick wrote with a co-author but the title eludes me at the moment.

Right now I am in the middle of The Right Stuff.  I waited wayyyyy to long to read that book and now I am finally doing it.  Tom Wolfe writes like no other!

I went a searched for it. It was Beyond Band of Brothers -The War Memories of Major Dick Winters- Written by Dick Winters and Colonel Cole C. Kingseed

It was a good book. He downplayed himself as a hero the tv series made him out to be. He either did that trying to show that he wasnt a superhero, which his modesty makes him more of a hero to me. Or he's doing it to boost his ego by making the reader think he's being modest. Im 99% sure its the 1st one.

A good friend of mine, I used to work for him in his Mercedes repair shop is from the same area of Pennsylvania that Dick's from.  I was not lost on me the similarities between he and Dick.  Same kind of work ethic and very, very modest.  I am sure the modesty is NOT a facade for him.  And that's what I admire about the man.  A rarity nowadays.

Another good one on the invasion of Iraq is "Generation Kill"  Can't remember the author right now but it was written by an embed following a tough group of recon Marines at the tip of the spear.

 That is a good book.

 Good read
