Thank you for contacting us regarding your Comcast High Speed Internet service.
I understand that you are having some problems with your connectivity.

To further troubleshoot this issue, please contact us via live chat at:

http://www.comcastsupport.com/sdcuser/asp/chatform.asp

or by calling 1-888-COMCAST (266-2278).

At that time, please have your computer directly connected to the cable modem
(bypassing any routers).  You will need to remove the power from the cable modem
for 10 seconds if you are changing the device connected to it.  Once we gather
further information, we can escalate this to our network operations center.

For answers to frequently asked questions and updates on new features, please
visit http://www.comcast.net and select Help.

Remember that Comcast will never ask for your password or billing information
via e-mail.

Thank you for choosing Comcast.

AS you see they want me out from behind my security setup and open to the net ...  (Insert Screaming here)

I could hook up the kids pc and tweek the netbios and other settings to close the ports .. But What about a big nasty Software firewall on it too ..would it would show up hidden just like i am now behind the Gateway correct ??

So my question is why comeout from behind my gateway ?? they are asking to compromise my security . ( Runs off Screaming... )

Roscoroo, are you running XP?  If you are, you can turn on the built-in XP firewall.  Make sure no exceptions  are enabled.  At my last company we did some pretty thorough testing on the XP firewall.  If it's on and has no exceptions, the computer effectively becomes a hole in the Internet.

When you call support, ask them what protocol they are using to test.  It's probably just ICMP, but you can enable it while you're on the phone with them.

I have had problems with Comcast also, they will not support any gaming related issues, such as: I keep losing connection, or my modem and router keep going out of Synch, which I think is total BS.  :furious
