Damn, these B26's are made of Kevlar
« on: July 24, 2006, 09:38:49 AM »
was sorting through a few films I have and I noticed one where I made a pass on a formation of B26's in a ME262

I hit all three bombers with 30mm rounds in one pass, but only popped the right drone. the left drone only shows 3-4 hit sprites but the lead bomber has 3 or 4 hit sprites on the nose, 1 sprite on the left wing, and 4 or 5 sprites on the fuselage starting behind the trailing edge of the wing back to the tail.

I captured the video, but can't seem to figure out how to capture it in slow motion, still.....it's clear the lead bomber takes alot of hits (minimum 8 maximum of 10) but the lead bomber shows no damage....

how many 30mm rounds does it take to down a B-26? aparantly alot

HERE'S THE VIDEO

Man thats A hell of a lot of hits

1- You were using all four cannons right ?
2- You were in the MA right ? not in a HTH room with modified settings

If you were firing all four and you were in the MA then DAM I dont get it the second drone copped it from nose to tail

Its a bit difficult  for me to see in your vid, so I dont know if it applies here but:

I have noticed in Film Viewer that the lead plane in buff formations shows hit sprites, even if I did hit only a drone. Of course only the drone goes down...

I rechecked the film and it looks like you are right

Check out the the tracer and notice that the first drone and the lead plane have the exact same hit sprites

Look for the fireballs. 30mm have small explosions when they hit. The hitsprites show on all bombers, but not the fireballs.

At least, I don't think they do.

umm krusty...does the Me262 have anything in it other than 30mm?  so...if a round(s) out of a 262 hit something, would it not be a 30mm hit regardless of what the flashes look like?

B26 is the hero, and has to win !
Me262 the nazi, bad guy.
If Nazi wins, no "Hollywood style"  happy ending, and peoples can"t  eat the popcorn and ask the money back and the end

If I remember right, HTC can open up the film and see exactly what hit where and exactly how much damage it did. Have you sent them the film and asked?

You poor, simple Londoner - Americans are the ones with the foreign accent:)

BTW, B26s seem to take a lot of hits.  I've noticed they don't ignite as easily as B24s, Lancs & B17s also.

Anyone got any data on relative survival figures between B26s & other bombers during WW2?
