(can you point to a reference that says he was?"

No.  The fox news channel is the only place that will even talk about it.  Shows where the PC crap has taken us.

Maybe he thought his suicide was just a big joke?  Before the news channel even said anything about no injuries, I could tell that only the pilot had been killed.    The sight of cessena sticking out of a huge building was so stupid I actually laughed.  Either this kid was very ignorant or he had one heck of a sense of humor.  I am hoping the latter.

the more they flaunt him, interview his teachers, friends, etc, the more it'll look attractive for the next kid to try to be "popular" through crazy toejame. Copy cat losers, there are a million of em out there.

Hang, that's a freakin scary idea ...   :(

I was just looking at airliners.net forum and it appears that this kid was a member of that forum. He had at least 10 different usernames and he claimed to be an airline pilot.

In this thread he is posting as "ERJPLT" and accusing someone of being a fake pilot!.

Oh AmOn you big tough man, I imagine you could give the order to kill some 15 year old kid, or kill some 15 year old without second thought.

Glad your not behind the switch.  You can talk the talk, I'm guessing you never had to walk the walk.

Whoever was in charge of the situation made their dicision and it seems to have been the right one.  One fediddleed up kid dead, one Cessna and one window.

What's your record on life and death decisions?

Actually they fly right over my office daily and their real purpose is to provide me entertainment during the boring hours. My office is about 1 mile off the end of the airstrip, and the F-16 wing here will practice immels right off the end of the strip. Very cool stuff. I have a great seat to watch the airshow planes arrive each year.

Thrawn my very good freind was shot buy a 12 year old kid in somolia with a AK47. You know why? because he hesitated.. A threat is a threat, a terrorist is a terrorist.

Yes i would eliminate the target.. once you cross the line this punk did you have no pity from me and should no longer be looked at as just a kid.

For all they knew that plane could have been full of explosives, other terrorist and who knows what.

Seems like you are the one with the inferiority complex, not this "big man".

------------

I heard the stupidest thing ever on the "news" this morning.. They were saying that his "acne medication" made him go nuts and do this.. LOL

actually they are saying the medication for severe boil type acne may be linked to sucidical thoughts/behavior & depression or it maybe that kids with bad acne/cysts are depressed/sucidical anyway, no matter what meds they are on. The chicken or the egg...

just need to take his mug off the national news and stop making a pop star hero out of his crazy arse. It's exactly what he and his kind are shooting for by such irresponsible behavior. Should have been a one day 30 sec news blip, end of story.

You have to think about this kids logic. If he had wanted to kill someone up to and including himself with an aircraft, why take the Cessna 172? We can see in that pic he only wasted one window. I figure he just wanted to go out with a bang.

But, still, he was a moron. He took a light plane and crashed into a building to make a point. What it is, I don't know, but he obviously wanted something more than to just die. But, in situations like his, you have to put yourself in the Coast Guard's and military's shoes. These guys had no idea that this kid planned on flying into a building. They didn't know he was suicidal. Their job was to get the aircraft and pilot down and avoid casualties.

What if the military hand snubbed this kid? Then we'd have people saying, "But, he had his whole life ahead of him. He was so young." because that's where our society has come to. No one would have cared if they shot him down becasue he was a threat. There'd be someone out there who'd be crying to the military for killing an innocent student.

Now, here's my opinion. Yes, I do think the military should have turned that plane into a wisp of smoke, and that they should have done it after the kid never responded. But, thankfully no one was hurt, and the only thing damaged was one window and an office.

And yes, I am also afraid of "copy-cats" wanting to be famous by driving a light plane into their school or something. I've heard ideas being thrown around here at school, being as my high school is less than 5 miles from Meachem Airfield, where their is a flight school. I'm a little worried, but I doubt anyone is dumb enough to do something like that again...

If they're going to cover it, then they should use more accurate headlines.  I'd like to see more on just how useless his attempt was.

"Bank of America struggles to replace broken window."

"Pilot gives his life to fight windows!"

"Physics presents a harsh reality for young student."

"Panebreakers poised to suicide rush 7-11 front store windows nationwide if the US does not change its foriegn policy."
