Taps for Dogfighter.Com?
« on: September 10, 2001, 02:26:00 PM »
I've enjoyed Dogfighter for quite some time now.  Since day one really. Phaetn did a wonderful job of running the site after Rafter departed but I think this latest change spells the end of DF as an objective flight sim/game info news site. All kidding and comments about WB 2.76 winning the sim of the Year 2000 award   ;)
It may not be a "pay" subscription they're going to but with DF being a bed partner with Playnet (they're definately more than a host providing service now) and now having to subscribe is more than I for one want to have to handle when superlative sites like SimHQ offer the same, if not more, for the price of a simple mouse click.

I think that most of these free simulation reviewing sites like Dogfighter.com and others will probably be going to a subscriber base of some form.

I hate to see it happen but the economics of the matter are that not enough people click on the ads to generate revenue to keep the site free.

I hate to see the sites head down the road they are on but it is inevitable.
