I know, I was just noting in my own way that in the last use of the Iowa BB's the Tomahawks were more potent than the 16" guns. Not that the 16"rs were useless, but the Tomahawk was the main tool of the BBs, which is an awfully expensive platform to shoot missles off of.

Yeah, but it's a shame to have mothballed them.  Sure, you can launch cruise missiles from smaller / cheaper platforms.  But doing so lacks the psychological factor that hearing / seeing those big guns each launch 2000lbs of death fifteen miles inland.

Cruise missiles hit their targets . . . usually a building or bunker.  No fear there.  Walk away from the target.  You're safe.

But OMFG those shells are raining everywhere seemingly at random -- NO PLACE IS SAFE! ! ! !

But maybe that is just me.

Imagine being able to rain a Lancasters worth of destruction on a coastal target salvo after salvo...

Not to mention that you would probably have 5" guns that could fire to the front or rear without being blocked by the turrets on a full-sized BB.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

Yeah.  It would be cool to fly over one and just watch it stop and explode on it's own!!

V-2, okay, but not V-1's! They were believed to be awaiting a nuclear device so that hitler could send it into london. And that's where No. 633 squadron came in. Because what they bombed was not what they were told. About it being a possible creation site for the Rocket Fuel of the ME-163. It was an area believed to house the research and creation of a nuclear device.

V-1s were buzz bombs... You're thinking of V-2s... V2 was the ballistic missile!

Heck, I'd be happy if we could just spawn individual player-controlled destroyer escorts.  Not much code required there, I should imagine, though we'd need to add torpedoes and smoke generators.  You could use the PT boat code as a strating place, I should think.  Also, I'd like to see an LST you could drive up to the beach and have it act as a vehicle spawn point.  And now that I'm warmed up, how about adding a tanker, ammo ship, and troop transport to fleets to emulate the fuel, ammo, and troop bunkers on land bases?  That way, you could selectively take out a fleet's ability to do certain types of missions without having to kill the flagship and wait for the respawn.

P.S. Loved "Space Battleship Yamato" (a.k.a. "Starblazers"), too.  Me and a few friends have been trying to come up with a MMOG loosely based on the concept (though not the storyline).  I'd post a picture, but I don't have it on a website I can link it too.

Yup Saber, I'm with you on the player controlled DE, with smoke and torpedoes.  We would also need to code smoke generators for PT's, as well.

If player controlled DE's are eventually implemented with the smoke generators that would go a long way to helping out in fleet vs fleet battles.  You lay a smoke schreen down to prevent them from guaging their fall of shot, and can use it to spring out from and lay some 5" fire on them, or torpedoes.

It would be the battle of Samar, all over again.:D   Those tin cans really worked over the Japanese Center force, basically de-acked the big boys so that the planes had an even better chance of getting in and damaging them.
