William Shatner
« on: August 02, 2006, 03:54:59 PM »
I'm off work for three weeks and apparently I've got too much time on my hands.

Surfing the web I found this item:

William Shatner has been nominated for three Emmy Awards this year.  One for best supporting actor for his role in "Boston Legal."  Two for his television special "How William Shatner Changed the World."

But, but...everybody told me that the man can't act!?

What's up widdis?

Regards, Shuckins

He can't act his way out of a paper bag, but he has embraced it, which is why he is just flat out hilirious.

you need to hear him sing "Lucy in the sky" you'll laugh yourself half to death.

Leonard Nemoy (sp?) doing "If I had a hammer" is great as well.  Two hilarious songs because spock tries to be serious and Shatner just flat out knows its bad but goes with it anyway.

Kinda like my Musical Blasphemy.

that is not to say that he isnt part of the creation, it is to say that they are probably symbiotic and can script him as he wants to be.  or something...

He can and does act.  Every time you see or hear him he is acting.

I like Shat, always have.  He is an American Icon and a damned good one too.

Nimoy's "Bilbo Baggins" music video is a classic.

I thought he was a Canadian.

To some extent, every actor is a slave of his script.  He's had some real stinkers.  The first Star Trek movie blew big time.

Yet, I developed a sneaking admiration for the man after seeing him in as Kirk in one of the best Star Trek tv scripts ever produced:  Balance of Terror.

Great script.  Great acting on Shatner's part, as well as all the actors involved.
