24-bit to 8-bit

Sorry, but I looked through the search archives and came up empty.

I can't get my images to 8-bit--they're at 24-bit right now, but otherwise identical to the properties of the default image.

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.
