German 88mm Flak 36
« on: August 07, 2006, 12:57:57 PM »

If we cannot get a single 5" gun for field defense, how about the German 88mm Flak 36.  Definately a well used gun throughout the war, and very common.  Would be effective aginst bombers as well as fighters.  It would definately force bombers up to a higher altitude, and stop the unrealistic low level bomber runs on VH bases.

Our bases just need better manned ack to deal with aircraft as well as gv's.

OH YES! just think of all that can be done with a multi-purpose 88mm!!!1!1

in N. Africa weren't those effectively hitting allied tanks from like 2 miles away?

or was it 6?

either way a say bring the 99mm Multirole flak gun of death:D

unforutunetly the pic didn't load after i read it and it did not appear until after i posted my last post.

I do not believ that is the 88mm i was previously speaking of.

though i bet it would still be very effective in base defense, against fighters and GVs as well

:D

So give us the Dual-Purpose 88 that was both AA and AT gun in one.

Could just make it so you have to choose your loadout like a tank and switch between AA and AP or HE rounds while in the gun. And pray to the AH godz that you took the proper type for the fight you are in :)

Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

I may be wrong but weren't the allies the only ones with VT fuses?
Would make the flak a little less effective I'd think.

How about a loadout of where for example 30 AA and 30 AT shells. Thing about the 88 is that you wouldnt have that many shells on hand

and it would possibly be perked

Still I think we need an 88

All of the non-fleet AAA is actually 88mm FLAK guns. They just aren't mannable.

I would love to see this weapon added to the arsenal. Could serve multiple roles for AA & AT.

We are still in need of a multi barreled AA gun like the Wirbelwind :D
