Hellgramite = Smallmouth :)
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Give that man a CIGAR!

Yup yup.

Just got back from  fishing on the upper Delaware for a couple days
A place I refer to as "My church" Not a building. the entire area LOL

Everything was PERRFECT. Everything went PERRFECT (for a change)

Caught a chitload. about 20 keepers altogether not including Bluegill and river chubs
ALL which put up a magnificent fight

Nothing huge. Most in the 10-14 inch range.
but on 4 and 6 Lb test. oh what a fight.

Trip itself was great. Found some time to "Zen" out
Relax and forget about watermelon for a while,
Saw no less then 3 Bald eagles within a stones throw from the campsite (pretty rare for around there)
Some shooting Stars at  night

And even a bit of the weird.

I was dragging my canoe with my daughter in it up river to shoot this one particular stretch of rapids  that are upstream from my campsite with her.
and Im now upstream of the rapids but wantot get far enough up so that I can steer into the roughest part.
In water about knee deep when out of the corner of my eye I see what I first thought was a snake.
When I looked directly at it I saw this bushy tail and saw it was a squirrel crossing the river not 4 feet from me.
Why a squirrel was swimming across the river I do not know. but it was kinda cool to watch it go by. LOL

The entire time I was there it was like nature was welcoming me home.

Great trip. Pics to be posted as soon as we develop them

The squirrel was crossing the river for the exact same reason the chicken crossed the road.

Years ago when I was young I used to go fishing on the Llano River in West Central Texas. We used to go out a catch those before we fished. It was fun. Me and my cousins running around turning over rocks and stuff to find em.

Used to catch all sorts of fish , but catfish were the big things to catch. We used ole cane poles and fished off some rocks. My uncle and Dad sitting back on the bank of the river watching us.

It was a quiet time and a simpler time. Undisturbed land and beautiful. We'd fish late into the night and cook hot dogs and have sodas. All day long getting sunburned and laughing at the catfish making noises.

Great times.

I still use them whenever Im on the river and can get them.
They arent easy to come by and most bait stores dont sell them. I happend to pass by a place in NJ on the way up that had some left.
Expencive $5 for 6. Without batting an eyelash I picked up 30.

But I know these thing are worth every penny on that river and if you hook them right though the shell near the head you can be using the same  one for and be very productive with it dead or alive hours unless a fish manages to get it off or you hang up on a rock.

"Quieter and simpler times"
thats why I like that area. No gas motors or Jetskies allowed and if you go during the week as I did you can almost literally have the enire river to yourself and go for hours without seeing anyone else on it.

thats why I call it "my Church"
ITs where I like to go to clear my head or meditate when I have something heavy on my mind. Or just to relax and forget everything for a bit.

In this case it was all 3. I NEEDED this trip badly
and it was perfect. the weather was perfect. the water was perfect

Everything was just perfect.
The only thing that could add to these last few days aint likely to happen.
And the only thing that wasnt perfect was having to leave LOL

I'm assuming you mean upper delaware river, instead of upper delaware.

If that's the case, I've been working on a construction site nearby to the delaware valley river gap.  Many beautiful animals are there, none of which I have seen.  Quite possibly because of the construction noises.

The The Watergap ( I am assuming that is where you mean) is ok, but I like this area much better
