I do not know if he is biased or not.  I know much of the information he posted is just flat out wrong.  So much so, it isn't even worth picking at the posts.

Well Skuzzy, I invite you to pop over to those forums and explain how he's wrong.  If you're right it could only make our game better.

Time is on low supply.  But even if I had time, I would not want to argue with this person.  He seems to have made up his mind and whenever anyone gets that far off course, it takes a very large magnet to pull them back (or a good size baseball bat).  I really lack the patience to deal with that.

No offense to you laser.

Well, could you at least toss me a few articles as to why he's wrong so that I could show them to him?

At times like this I'm reminded of a forum moderator over at Driver Heaven....

I used to be a real nvidia fan (Geforce256) but then I got sick of the blurry desktop image and bought a spanking new computer.

To my surprise the image was still blurry. Slowly I began to realize that the display adapter was somehow at fault. Later I learned that all nvidia graphics cards of the time had serious problems with RF filtering resulting in a blurry image at high refresh rates and resolutions.

I switched to Ati and for the first time ever my PC image was crystal clear and sharp. After that I've never dared to buy an nvidia even if they outperformed any Ati card. Fast is nothing if it makes the image blurry like I need glasses.

Quick question: Was ATI recently purchased by AMD or something to that effect?

LOL, I love it

Someone bashes your beloved brand and you wont raise a finger to correct the record.

Please, set the record straight!

Look, its no secret I havent been wow'd by the ATI brand.  I've always bought top of the line nVidia and got hassle free performance in all my games as a result.  (If you go on the cheap with any brand, you'll have issues, in my opinion)

I just think its interesting someone posts some pretty interesting points about ATI's failings yet you wont share your 'Well **I** know better' sort of retort.

Don't get me wrong, nVidia has their own issues...like dual and qual SLI stinking out at lower resolutions...(But if you buy a dual or quad card, you most likely ARENT looking to run at 1024 x 768...and at high res settings, dual/quad screams)

I just expected a better response from you, that's all.

Yes, one of the big gains for AMD will be their massive chipset production capability

LePaul, your entire post was based on the premise that I prefer ATI.  I could care less about video card brands.  It is all about using the best tool for the job.  I use both NVidia and ATI.

It's simply not my job to educate others and I have been around the block long enough to know it would be an uphill fight anyway.  All I did was point out his information is rather inaccurate.

Beyond that, there is also no benefit to me to partake in it.  If you guys want to believe him, then no skin off my tush for it.

Based on your responses, you seemed to know how the guy was wrong and could educate the rest of us where he's completely wrong, a little wrong, etc

If you really want to learn about the various differences in how ATI and NVidia cards treat various aspects of the DirectX specification, then;

1)  Read/Study the DirectX specification.  It is public.
2)  Spend some time at both ATI and NVidia's developer forums.  They have public versions available.
3)  Download and study the various code snippets from both companies.  They go out of thier way to show how some of the more complex things in DX are accomplished on thier cards, which in turns shows the differences.
4)  Realize there are at least 4 (more in many cases) ways to do each and everything you want to do in a graphics subsystem, then pick the one which works with both ATI and NVidia.

It is trivial to sit back and lambast a company on how they support things.  I have always preferred to understand the approaches the companies take, as the DX spec is up for interpretation in many areas.  Just because one company does it one way, and another company does it another way, does not mean either is wrong.

Hey Skuzz, if you scratch my back just a little lower, I bet I could get you plugged in the credits, or maybe (big maybe) AH2 plugged on the webpage.
