An idea for map resets
« on: August 20, 2006, 09:51:09 PM »
What if when a map resets, the countries switch bases.

what I'm getting at is when a new map comes up each country knows excatly where to start the hoarde.  If countries rotated bases as the map rotates it might mix things up a bit.

Not sure if its possible, but I think it would be fun

One thing i don't like about the resets is that it changes the bases instantly.  It should only do this for the next map.

Many times we've won the war and the base has changed and there is no chance in hell of RTBing  with several kills that led up to the war win.

I'm just a noob but maybe it doesnt reflect as a death if your in the air when you get the server rebooting connection lost message.

What he means is like on Baltic. The biggest hoard always comes winging out of A1 at A63 when the map first comes up.

I don't see how that would help, though.

OZ.... your correct and thats Knights hoarding a Bish base I think.

If countries rotated and it became, oh lets say Rook base and a Knight base things might shake up a bit.

Just an Idea to liven up the maps a bit and not knowing exactly where to go as soon as a map comes up.

I believe he is stating that once the map resets, when the new one begins.  You have a horde en route to the same bases all of the time.   Which is impossible to stop because regardless of what country has what base, it will still happen.   I enjoy the Target Rich Environment.

It sounds to me like he wants the bases to change numbers around, so the same "fights" don't happen every time.

Stickpig, if that is the case it can not be done. the bases are set into the map with theinumbers. A1 can not change to A47 or anythign else without building the map and strat of the map from scratch.

on certian maps (well most all) the players have seen them enough to know where the good quick fights are. unless a brand new unseen map comes up, players will learn the layout of a map. (heck I can tell you where 1/2 the bases are on many maps without being at a computer even).

BTW if you were un-aware, players first logging in automatically go to the lowest number base their country ownes. so at a reset, they all start out at the same base. that is also a reason there are big fights at certian bases.

Example  on this map A3 is a Bish base and A4 is a Knight base.

next time this map comes up make A3 a rook base A4 a bish base and the knights move to the previous Bish bases.

As it is Bish and Knight know to start the hoarde at these 2 bases as soon as the map comes up. If the bases where rotated amongst the 3 countries it might breath some new senarios into the maps.

Just an idea

If this is already happening excuse me as I haden't noticed.

Currently, it's randomized by country. What he's asking for is that, say, the East front line moves 5 bases back, and the West front line moves 5 bases forward. That way, the front line is in different locations every time the map is run.

I wouldn't mind trying a map that has been completely randomized...  just mix em all up, throw em at the map, and get a shotgun of red, yellow, and green.
Only the 163-base near HQ is guaranteed to be yours... everything else you fight for.

Be interesting to try once...

Yeah Interesting but you just know that the randomness would generate whines......

More whines means more BBS damage control for Skuzzy

You dont wanna make more work for the Skuzmiester do you :p
