Rogue Squadron is recruiting pilots to take part in Friday Squad Ops. We are looking for pilots who are interested in participating in a more historical and organized experience than what the MA offers. Matched planesets, historic targets, realistic missions, seasoned opponents, familiar wingmen... if this sounds like fun, then become a Rogue!
In case you're not familiar with it, Friday Squad Ops (
Info) is a CM-run weekly event that plays in the Special Events Arena on Friday nights at 11 PM EST and lasts for 2 hours. Each scenario consists of three separate frames, run on 3 consecutive weeks, followed by a break on the fourth week.
For each squad, every week is something different... bomber escort, low-level surgical strikes, combat air patrol, large-formation bomber missions... and there are some epic furballs, too! You'll get to fly all kinds of different planes, including the occasional perk ride... there's even large tank battles once in a while. The CMs do a great job setting these up so that everyone gets to see action.
Check out these screenshots from past FSOs...
P-38 escorts clear the way for the trailing bomber formations. Me-262 scouts check out a suspicious group of unidentified contacts. An Fw-190 makes a slashing attack on a bomber group, but now has a P-47 escort on its tail. A low-level Mosquito strike makes its way deeper into the French countryside. Your B5N is almost within torpedo range of the enemy fleet, but now you have an additional concern.Rearmed and refueled, your lone Bf-109 links up with a few surviving Fw-190s to go back out and cause more trouble.Getting there is always the easy part. Here's the good part... you do not need to leave your MA squad to become a Rogue... FSO plays in the SEA, and you can belong to an entirely different squad in that arena. Fly all week long with your buddies in the MA, then fly with the Rogues on Friday night. It's the best of both worlds!
Rogue Squadron is not a hardcore group of military strategists... we're just a bunch of guys who enjoy flying together. No uniforms, no ranks, no secret handshakes... just lots of action and good memories. We don't hold practices, qualifications, or initiations... we show up on Fridays and have fun. We accept all experience levels... from newbie to veteran.
If you are not sure about it, we are happy to let you fly with us as a guest to see what it's like... just give me a couple days notice to get you on the roster. However, I would recommend that you try it for the full 3 frames to really get the complete experience, and to ensure that the Rogues can field consistent numbers for that scenario.
Send me an e-mail if you'd like to try it out. The next scenario starts on Friday, January 6th... come join the fun!
