Too wierd for Hollywierd...
Quote
LOS ANGELES, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Paramount Pictures has cut its 14-year-old ties to Tom Cruise's production company because of his off-screen behavior, the chairman of the studio's parent company told the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday.

The remarks by Viacom Inc. Chairman Sumner Redstone signaled the end of one of the most lucrative production deals commanded by an A-list Hollywood star and followed other signs that Cruise's stature had been damaged by his conduct during the past year.

Although Cruise recently topped Forbes magazine's annual list of the world's 100 most powerful celebrities, his latest film, "Mission: Impossible III" opened in May to lower-than-expected ticket sales. Days later an opinion poll showed his star power had dimmed considerably in the eyes of the public.

"As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal," Redstone was quoted as saying in the Wall Street Journal report e-mailed to reporters. "His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."

Incredible...

Tom Cruise has an incredible depth of talent that has only grown with his experience.

Why the cocky jerks he played in Top Gun and Cocktail pale in comparison to the cocky jerk he played in Days of Thunder...  and the cocky jerk in the Mission Impossible trilogy, well the depth of the performance speaks for itself.  Tom Cruise may be the best cocky jerk in Hollywood history.

Wtg Paramount, even if the reason given is not something i care about.

Never liked the guy (no, didnt much care for Top Gun either) but frankly I dont care about what "stars" do off-set if their work is good. Dont care if they do brilliant things off-set either if their work sucks...

I prefer actors like Jenna Jameson and such.. her on-set work is really good but she can eat puppies off-set for all i care.

The real 'behavior' they're mad at is that he secured a better deal for himself replacing Paramount before negotiations even started.

His new salary demands were way off the scale, his people knew Paramount would walk and free him to move on with his new financial backers.

The last 2 movies he made brought in almost $1 Billion. Maybe Paramount is the one who needs their head examined?

What do you expect to come from a mouth that eats placenta anyway :D
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

I would tend to believe something like this, since when did the hollywood moneymakers ever care about how someone acts, gimme a break.

"His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."

What recent conduct is he referring to?  Jumping on a couch?  NOT parading his newborn around in public?  Getting pissed off at an interviewer with a water pistol-microphone?

He must have really *****ed up a storm over the whole South Park thing if they are dropping him because of that.

I wonder when he's going to let Katie out of the compound for some highly controlled visits with the real world.
