Thats a lot of tasks running there. If you hit control + alt +delete with windows XP pro, you have the task manager box pop up. go to processes and where it says user name, click there and it will arrange the running tasks with the name on your computer. I have 3 on mine

system
local service
my real name (mark)

the ones with my real name I have disabled in startup except for the following

explorer
zlclient
awgcc (AV software)
rundll32
taskmgr (task manager)

my pc runs really smooth.

Download and use 'FSAutoStart' to launch AH2.
It's free.  Makes intelligent recommendations in the configuration mode as to what to stop and what to allow to run in the background.

Then, when you reboot for regular work & surfing, all background programs are running again as normal.

Was created for Microsoft's FS2004 flight sim, but works in all sims.

Good luck,

Dogg that sounds so funny you hatin his video card.It is after all your opinion of what is wrong but he must go get FSAutostart, if you did Dogg you wouldn't have any problems either.Or you can buy one of these cards.

PCI express is state of the art but so is Dual DVI.

they have the card he described for 144$ but it is brand new and not refurbished.

My problem is not how many programs I got running (only 16 processes btw).  Its the detail I want to play at.  I am planing on getting a new card but it gonne be either the ATI X1900XTX 512 meg or the Geforce 7950gt2 512 meg with my new system.

My son's computer has the Nvidia 5700.  He has his graphic detail to almost bare minimum with no AA or AF at 256 textures.  He gets around 20-40 fps depending on the situation in the game.  I had the same card in my system till I upgraded to the X800XL 256.  I gave him my old card.  BTW, both of the computers when we go into the game are between 14-18 services.  The services running on my system depends if the wife goes on my 3rd computer to do her college work (file/print sharing) while I am playing AH.

I alrdy have it but it does nothing for me.  I tried it and there was no gain as I have nothing really running in background anyways.  A normal system has anywhere from 21-28 processes running, I got 16-18.  If I really stripped it, I would have 12 but it actually slowed the computer down because some of the processes were required for optium running.  My sons computer has 14 processes running as he only plays games and is just a client on my network.  My computer is the server.  O and I have no programs running either.  Not in statup folder or even in registry under HKLM/Software/microsoft/windows/run, etc...

I build computers and set them up for people.  I know what I am doing, trust me.

FSAS is not a cure all, and it doesn't fix bottlenecks. ;-)

AMD merged with ATI.

Nvidia is not part of AMD. But at last report was in talks with Intel for a similar merger.
