Confederate States Of American

So I was walking threw BlockBuster today to look for a movie to watch while at work tomarrow.

As I was walking threw this movie popped in the corner of my eye.  It was called Confederate States of America, of course this cought my eye.:O

I want to watch it but I think it will be a movie to watch by myself.

Then I got to thinking....I have such knowledge in the O'club we should discusses this topic.

So here it is What if the Confederates won the war over the union?  What would be different?

The movie pictures on the back had the Confederate flag on the moon instead of the Stars and strips...it also had the Confederate flag being raised at Iwo Jima.  Just made me think.  What would be different.  Would love to hear what you guys think (know most of you are from the south).

Here is the film   http://www.csathemovie.com/

Within several years of winning the civil war, the national economy and stability would collapse.

Just like it did the first time there were Confederate States of America.

I would say that the constitution would mean more to Americans and Americans would be more free with states rights more important and a weaker central government.

There is a chance that new laws would evolve allong the present "blue vs red) voting trends with the sardine people opting for more and more government control in their lives and the individualists seeking less.

This would mean that allmost everyone could find a place for themselves without making life hell for their fellows.

agree. the "south" was against having all the "big policy makers" from the north and in DC. they wanted more individual indepedence, and wanted the farmer and rural areas to have the same impact on the choices made by the government as the big cities.

basically California and NYC would not have the political power they do now.

You may find the Harry Turtledove books on the subject interesting, he's made it to the early 1940s so far.  The political maneuverings are fascinating.

If you're the type who's interested in skipping forward to the answers, here's a summary of how things end up:

Heres what I think. The Confederate States would still be around today, Richmond Va would be the National Capital. And hopefully by the time We all were born, slvery and Raceism would only be seen in really old history books.

Given your question, I wonder when, or if, they would have ever done away with slavery.

I've seen it.  It wasn't a bad satirical documentary.
