Money Sent to Lebanon
« on: August 26, 2006, 11:37:35 AM »
I found myself very angry yesterday when i saw that the United States was sending hundreds of millions of dollars to Lebanon for what is supposed to be humanitarian uses.  Now follow me for a second here.  Hezbolla is a terrorist organization.  Hezbolla retains about 25 percent of the posts in the parliment.  Therefore i interpret it that the US is now funding a terrorist group on the national level.  I was appalled at finding this out.  I don't believe for a minute that this money will be allocatted as it was earmarked.  It will either mysteriously dissappear or Hezbolla will distribute it and say it was from them effectively buying more support with American tax dollars.  I myself found this unacceptable and wrote my all of my representatives telling them what i thought.  I outlined my argument to them and informed that i would not vote for any person who gave there approval for this program even if it was only tacit consent.  I encourage everyone who feels like i do to write to to there congressmen.  You can now email them.  My sister worked in a congressmans office for the past couple of years while in law school and has told me they have a person that does nothing but read letters and email.  If they get enough on one topic it gets passed along to the congressman for review.  The only way to change our system for the better is for people to get involved

You're right Hawker, let them suffer. Show them once and for all that America hates the innocent victims of war and wants them dead. Prove the terrorists right. Prove the USA cares nothing about the suffering of innocent people who lost everything in a war not of their making.

Push Lebanon into the hands of the extremists by proving once and for all that America is their enemy.

We give tons of money to North Korea every year so THEIR people won't starve to death....but the vast majority is intercepted by the gov't and spent on military items. Is buying a bag of rice or 2 each year for each walking skeleton over there worth the ten-fold extra that these nutburgers spend tryin to build nukes? A decision I'm glad I don't have to make

The US gives no money to North Korea. It gives "tons of money" to California rice farmers.

Yup, we quit giving them food/supplies via the UN at the end of last year, and South Korea pulled the plug last month. sad thing is, they will still spend the same amount of the resources on military

IMO if e are going to send aid to these other countries.
Instead of sending cash.
We should be sendign the actual things they need.
AND be distributing it ourselves

Example. if they need food. Dont send money for food. Send actual food.
If they need bridging material or cement. Dont send money to buy the bridging material and cement.
Send the actual material.

Really though Id be pretty happy if we just stopped sending aid to anyone. And worried more about the people who may need that money here at home.

As my grandfather used to say
"Charity should start at home"

Take care of our own problems first before we even think about worrying about anyone elses
Death is no easy answer
For those who wish to know
Ask those who have been before you
What fate the future holds
It ain't pretty

Saw this on the news a week or 2 ago and was waiting for it to reach the oclub :D

Soooo... does this mean that America is now officially a terrorist supporter, or do you have to be a European country to fall into that category when donating to Lebanon?

If I am right the USA is defining the group "Mujaheddin e Khalk" = MEK as a terrorist organisation.

The MEK are exile iranians who fled the islamic revolution to Iraq and built an "resistance army" with the help of Saddam. They fought side by side with the arabs against the iranians in the Iran-Iraq-War.
Also they wer known for torturing iranian POWs and iraqi kurds.

Before the islamic revolution they fought against the Shah and also killes US-people who workes in Iran.

The MEK had large military camps in iraq and is doing terroristic operations in Iran like bombing civilian targets.

When the US-forces destroyed Saddam they have not arrested the MEK-terrorists. Instead these terrorists still have their camps in Iraq and still bomb iranian civilians. There was at least one case when US forces protected a MEK camp, when iraqi kurds wanted to take revenge for the torture done to them by MEK-terrorists.

And the MEK is officially still defined by USA as a terrorist organisation.

So - am I totally wrong if I conclude that the USA is supporting terrorists?
