Can someone explain to me exactly what this is, and how it works and all that stuff. I know it has to do with radar, not much more than that though. Thanks.

I dont really know how to explain it. But basically it measures the air activity in a sector.. over 400 feet. takes 3 or so planes to even register I think. others can explain it better, but thats what I understand

1/5th DAR BAR indicates one enemy aircraft in sector. 2/5ths indicates 2 enemy and so on until the DAR BAR is full. This now indicates at least 5 enemy aircraft, but could be many more than that.

Note also that the DAR BAR only shows those aircraft flying at greater than 500 feet above ground level.

Widewing, correct me if I'm wrong, but the friendly bar does not show your plane. So if you are the only person in the sector and are above 500 AGL your FE won't show a green bar, but to other countrymen they will see 1/5 of a bar and the enemy will see a 1/5 red bar.

So if you see a sector that has a lot of green dots, but no dar-bar the group is most likely NOE (below 500 AGL) and are trying to sneak into an enemy base.

And technically dar-bar or bar-dar is called a sector counter.

I think it's smaller than fifths... might be sixths or sevenths... Not sure.

It looks to me that a full bar is 10, or more. The first bar is a double length (1/5) and this can indicate that 1 or 2 players are in that sector. From there it increases in 1/10 segments for each additional player in that sector. When the bar is full length across the sector, there are at least 10 players in that sector.

No matter what the actual number is, it is a visual indicator of the number of friendly and enemy in the sector.

I believe it also shows the ratio between friendly and enemy. I have seen 20 friendlies above dar-bar level and only half a green bar to their full bar. This would indicate that my country was out numbered 2 to 1.

And if they haven't changed it lately dar picks you up at 200 AGL. Been caught looking to may times on NOEs to beleive otherwise.

Dar bar has always been and always will be 500 feet. But the 200 feet myth persists
