I just picked it up from Big5, and did not even had chance to clean it. Nice 'interesting' markings.  (They are also selling M39 for 85$ and M44 for 90$)

mmmmmm.....cosmoline......... i haven't been looking at C&R sites in a long time (keeps me from spending my rent), but M39 for 85$ and M44 for 90$ that seems a bit high.  I got my M39 Excellent condition for $60 shipped.  But then again it was two years ago.

Russian, nice choice. I also have a Yugo 24/47. It's accurate and the 8mm ammo is cheap. The action is a lot smoother than that Mosin you have.

FYI, it will shoot about 6-12" high at 100 yrds. It's battle-sighted for 200 yards. You can use a 6-o'clock hold on the target or get a taller front sight from Springfield Sporters.

My newest toy should be here any day now.  Like a kid in a candy store.  I rush home and check for mail.  :)

Yugoslavian M59/66, here's the ad:

These SKS rifles from the former Yugoslavia are definitely not your garden variety Simonov rifle! In addition to the milled receiver, screwed in barrel, milled trigger group and underfolding blade bayonet, these honeys have an integral NATO standard 22mm grenade launcher and flip up sight built right in! In addition to the cool looking launcher, our SKS's have flip up night sights, and a gas system cut off button, ten round fixed magazine and sling swivel! Barrel: 24”, Overall: 43 3/4”. Weight: 9.15 lbs. Curio & Relic Condition: Good

I just got 1000 rounds of 7.62x38R ammo for my Nagant revolvers from them as well, I bought mainly for reloading capability.  Only now I hear the Fiocci ammo has a tendency to split at the neck after only 1 or 2 uses, which really stinks.  Nobody carries the cheaper Starline brass for it anymore, and the Bertram brass is almost a dollar each!  Sheesh.

If you haven’t noticed my location; I’m from Socialist Republic of California. Therefore those prices are considered a bargain. :D It would be nice to be able to purchase new toys at those prices, but…..

After I tried your Mauser, I wanted to buy one badly. Now since Big-5 dropped price below 100$, I snagged it. When ever we have next Bay Area OClub gathering, I will bring it.
Btw, did you ever think of attaching scope to it?

 Nice new toy!

I want to get Nagan, but they don't sell them around here. :( But doesn't it use same round as TT33? (or was it PPsh41?)

nice 24/47! I have on too they are great shooters.

got gome SKS's too. I picked up a few for $69 each a couple years ago.

I still have my C&R license, but I haven't bought anything in a couple of years. It was getting too expensive. Heck I think I still have a couple rifles I bought but haven't even fired yet.

Russian, I thought about scoping my 24/47...but I scoped my Enfield instead. To do a good mount on a Mauser it's probably best to tap and drill a mount. I didn't want to go through that hassle. I enjoy shooting it like it is.

I'm also enjoying the scoped Enfield No. 4 Mk1. I used a Cad Technik mount from Brownells. It's rock solid and easy to convert back to the original sights. FYI, Big 5 has been getting in Savage (US made) Enfields in for $159 when on sale. The only down side is it's hard to find good/cheap surplus .303 British ammo. I ended up giving reloading a shot, now I'm enjoying the hobby of reloading .303. I'm now an official gun-nut.

Pic of scoped Enfield (and yes I'm over-compensating with the large scope :) )

Yes, we need a Bay Area range day soon.

I know a collector who can get the grenades, but not in this state.  If I had any and got caught with them here I'd go to jail lol.
