Anyone notice anything wrong with the B26 climb rate? I heard some trash talk so I took one up myself with 50% fuel and eight 500 pndrs. At 16,000 I was getting 200 feet per minute climb. That dont sound right?

Plus with 50% fuel I had barely 30 minutes fuel!

Is the B26 porked?

thnx krusty, google sez b26 climb rate is 1k per minute. I get 200 feet per minute at 16k....do you think the b26 is porked in AH? or should I ask google ?

Google might say initial climb is 1k/minute. That's on the deck. The B26 really reaches its limits over 10k. Also try running WEP at that alt. It helps a lot (although it has a short duration)

I guess it was the realization that of all the times I have used the B26, it suddenly seemed to take alot longer to get to 20k than it used to.

I cant help but wonder if it is just me suddenly taking notice of the way its always been or if something has changed in the game. 200 feet per minute....I guess thats not too bad. Whats the climb on a B17 at 16k? the B24 at 16k....

is there a webpage somewhere that has this stuff already researched on the AH flight models?

It's always been this way. You're heavily loaded in a plane that's tuned for lower altitudes. The B17 and B24 were meant to be high altitiude bombers. The B26 was meant to be a medium bomber at low-to-medium altitudes.

ok at 20k climb rate really falls off.......250 feet per minute, if I read the chart correctly.

I was at 16k climbout with less than 50% fuel and 8 500 pnd bombs and barely passing 200 feet per minute, and not doing much better back at 13k. Really slow climbout with no flaps and no WEP. I will check my stats again this evening but if the chart above is from previously generated stats in AH, then something is off. I should be doing around 700 feet per minute. Thats a deficit of 500 feet, or about 70% off the chart.

If those charts are a light bomber then I can understand why you are only climbing 200 feet per second with 50% and 4000lbs of bombs loaded, if those charts are with a heavy buff, then something is obviously wonky.

It drops way off well before that... Under 500fpm is just not worth it.
