An 18v AC adaptor will work just fine. It's just driving the FF motors. 22v would also work but 18 would make the motors last longer. With my mod I used a 12v adaptor as I did not use the circuit board that came with the Force FX. That was more than enough voltage. Just make sure the power output of whatever you use is at least 1A (1000 mA).
