I work on a Navy base. Parked the truck after lunch and then went to leave four hours later and this is what I find:

This is just not the kind of thing you expect to find on a military facility in broad daylight.

It's a shame, but it's a japanese truck. I used to "rub" slowpokes with my ford ranger. the one time I did it with my toyota tacoma it cost me a front bumper and an A/C hose. you can't tap anything with the japanese trucks. maybe the guy/girl didn't even know they did it, then again maybe they have read some of your posts on this bbs.

It's not a unibody. It's ladder-frame.

it will still transfer the impact's energy to it and potentially cause the frame to disalign. I would inquire about that prior to going the expense. I thought the same thing because I like rubbing people in traffic as opposed to laying on the horn because a rub is more effective at clearing out the space ahead of you. my bud at Miami Custom Bodyshop strongly urged that I not purchase that for the reason I explained above. I will wait for the my next truck purchase (which will be an American) to return to my rubbing ways.

I'll look into it. There's no shortage of Xterra owners that have after-market bumpers.

Well... I have more practical reasons for going to a steel bumper. Hi-lift jacks and better recovery points for straps.
