Well, here's a story where no horns are tooted....
Living in the Pacific Palisades around the turn of the millenium, I'd driven my then pristine 92 Acura legend down to the Vons grocery store at the Int of Sunset and PCH. The parking lot was a bit crowded, and I got stuck between two other cars looking for spots closer to the store, when I notice a late-90s Mustang backing out of a spot. Problem is, the spot's directly behind my rear left quarter and the douchbag behind the wheel's not looking in his rear view.
I feel the bump. The guy in the mustang wakes up, we exchange eye contact. A few seconds later, the car in front of me moves on, and I immediately start looking for a spot, any spot, so I can get out, assess the damage and deal with the driver of the mustang (I hate it when people involved in a fender bender block traffic settling their affairs, so I try not to). Anyway, I've gone about ten feet when I notice the mustang pull completely out of his spot, aim his car towards Sunset and gun his engine. I'm pointed in the opposite direction, so even if I wanted to give chase, it would have beenimpossible.
With my head turned, I watch him as he reaches the parking lot exit and guns it to merge onto Sunset. He merges....right into a tow truck doing about 30. He's hit from behind, on the rear left corner of all places, and propelled into the curb.
No, I didn't laugh or think what a wonderful stroke of charma it was. I also didn't bother getting his insurance info for the scratch he put on my car.
