Birth of a Nation, was also fiction, and it still offends people today. Wear a Superman tee-shirt in Riyad, and I'm sure you'll be the most popular guy there.
Par for the course, though. Americans aren't really allowed to get offended these days, for any reason, unless of course its by the actions of other Americans. Any criticism, acts of hatred, or even of violence are either expected, justified or, best of all, deserved.
Can't wait until the 5th anniversary of 9/11 rolls around. As the various parades and other celebrations clog the streets of many of the world's capitals, it will become hard, if not impossible, for the more righteous, less imperfect nationalities of planet Earth to get their mid-afternoon red wine.
