« on: May 28, 2001, 09:11:00 PM »
Thanks to those mean ole republicans and minimum $300 back to each tax payer! Plus lower tax bracket, win win situation. Amazing to think the dems think they deserve my own money more than I do...
Wonder if my wife will give me her $300 for another 10 months, er doubt it

On top of the cuts Nash, but your premise is right.  It's a one time payoff hoping we'll forget this would (could) be increased long term cuts.

Can't pay off everyone?  They're trying hard to prove that wrong.

DOnt whine, couse here in Finland weve had booming economy (becouse the Nokia got the mobile phone markets to itself) for 5-8 years or so and all we got was 0,5% lower taxes..And we have the worlds most heavy taxes after Sweden.

Usually the minimum wage guy has 28% tax rate plus the million other hidden taxes like the ALV(22% for every sold piece of thing) and for new cars 20%+22% (yes tax for taxes). The cheapest new cars you can get are usually well over 14000$.

If your income is a little higher than minimum, its no wonder to get 30-40% tax rate for it..
This list goes almost forever, and i could mention, that we have usually 30km trip to our jobs and 95 octane gas costs over 1$ per litre, as our gasoline has 75% tax in it.

So, thats what you get when you have socialdemocrats in power!

Edit: I forgot to mention the most important tax and its the spirits tax which is 80%!

Well, it reminds me of a last agony of the Soviet regime: April, 1991, when all the prices went up 60-100% and EVERYONE got extra 60 rubles per month to his salary.

Tuomio, as for alcohol taxes - AFAIK the tour bus to Len... sorry, St.Peterburg from Helsinki and back will cost you about $9. You can enjoy cheap and fine booth there

What we have here in Russia is a usual nonsence. This year income tax dropped down to 13% (thirteen percent, no kidding), and TV shouts it every 15 minutes, without warning the taxpayers that now you have to pay for the year 2000, that is good old progressive scale up to 50%.

It's all about only income tax, but if you have a private enterprise and honestly pay all taxes for it - you have to give all your profit to the allmighty state and will still owe them extra 10%. How about it?

I can't wait till the final vote.  12 Dems voted for the tax cut. I wonder how many more will vote for it after the conference?

There currently are 38 Senators who believe that the government knows more then the individual.  I wonder how many of the 38 are up for election in 2002?  Wonder how many will be reelected?

$300 back, INSTEAD of RAISING my taxes to start some bleeding heart new program, is in fact substancial.

I know I should feel guilty that after giving the government 30% of my income, God forbid they gave me alittle back thinking I could be responsible enough to invest it or something.

Ha! Who am I kidding. That brand new metal Thrustmaster hotas is going to be sweet. (yeah SOB, I'll try it, just so I can say I have one and the Saitek is better   )

Seems I read the $300 is the minimum check people will recieve as part of this "refund" and $600 will be the maximum.  At least that's what I got from this article on USA Today.com.
