Spitfire Mk. V speed and climb
« on: September 05, 2006, 12:17:52 AM »
I'm a newb, but I noticed that the Spitfire V doesn't live up to the performance "adverticed" on the Aces High web site ... or am I flying it wrong? I can only get it to 304 mph at sea level and 3000 fpm.

304mph @ Sea Level only? Well, prove me wrong, but this IS about the performance indicated by the graph on this website:

So "advertised"  and your experienced performance seem to be pretty much the same to me.

Yes the speed is not off by more than a few mph, but the climb is (in my experience). I can never get the thing to climb more than 3000 fpm.

We had a juiced up Mk V awhile back, then a patch came out and removed a few #'s off the boost so it wasn't so helicopterish. Then we had the MK VIII and MK 16 come out, which turned the MK V into a hanger queen.

So the graph's I don't think have been updated to reflect the reduced performance of the MK V since that time.
