Oh Please Lord, Don't Let This Suck

The Guardian

H3LL YEAH!!!  About time they made a movie about this. So much potential for greatness with a story about USCG Rescue Swimmers. Been there, know that! These guys put there lives on the line every time they go out, and they go out every time. "So Others May Live!"

They didn't pick a nice warm Gulf base with sexy babes and Miami Vice drug raids. They picked Kodiak, Alaska. Tough place to survive on a good day. This is gonna be a great movie! Real hard core Coasty life. People need to hear the stories and appreciate what these men do.

The gods tease me...

Kevin Costner and Ashten Kutcher? Say it ain't so.:cry
I'm still going to go see it, but I'm bracing for "Pearl Harbor".
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

With Ashton Kutcher in it?... well that just screams quality.

While militaries try to best other militaries on the field of combat, the Coast Guard bests the weather on the water.  And since there is no limit to what the weather can do, there is no limit on the courage the Coast Guard has.

Imagine this:

A fire truck arrives on scene at a fire with an extension ladder.  The firemen know there are people inside.  So what do they do?  They extend the ladder to about 40 feet above the fire, and then jump from the end.

I don't know if I have the bravery to do that.

Why would fire fighters do that?:huh

I'm in the Coast Guard and I can tell you this movie is NOT going to show the real Guard. They filmed a bunch of this movie right down the road in Elizabeth City, NC. The Actors couldn't handle Kodiak....."It's too cold!!!"

It's all Hollywood crap for the most part. Of course they had pick a story line about aviators. I'd like to see them do a movie about life aboard a 270' Medium Endurance Cutter doing counter drug op's. Wait that would be a dull movie....spend 6 days transiting down south and then turn circles in the water for a week, pull into Gitmo to re-fuel, go back out and turn circles for a couple more weeks, Gitmo, turn circles, Gitmo, go home.

NEVER MIND!!!!! Seen it already.

I'll see it just to see how bad they screwed it up, but that's it.

cast is slightly better than a combo with Chuck N.  and Arnold S. but still... Kutcher and Kostner

Ill prolly see it tho even if im sure any of the documentaries on the coast guard is alot better.

When they promote the director, things do not bode well - "dude, where's my helicopter?"

It's going to be a movie made for entertainment. It's being done for profit by hollyweird. Given those conditions someone is surprised that it's not going to be a documentary?!?!?!?!
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Don't tell me, Costner will play the strong, silent wise one, and Kutcher the more impetous eager go getter with a hot wife at home who worries about him each time he leaves the house.

Those two both sicken me, so I will probably pass on what will probably be a bad and wildly inaccurate movie.

just reading that, i'm surprised how it describes so many movies i've liked.
they must have been using this formula for 50 years, because

was the 1st example that came to mind...

Problem with that comparison is both Mitchum and Wagner could act.
