St Santa:
I swore an oath to uphold the Constitution of the USA, and to defend the USA. I also swore to obey the orders of the Commander in Chief, who for the past 8 years has decided that toejamholes like Bosnia and Kosovo are in our nations best interest. I have yet to see how anything in these places directly effects me or our country. I'm sorry, but I just see it as our country's way of playing global policeman, and I don't really care for it. All this coming from a man who fled to England to escape military service. I have to obey orders, but I don't have to like it.

Although I strongly support Bush, I am prepared to live with a Gore victory, if that is the way it turns out, absent any shenanigans. After all, this is America.

We've never had a vote this close before, though, and I'm disturbed by what we've seen. We've observed not only the smelly underbelly of politics that has probably always existed behind the scenes, but we are struck with the impression that there seems to be two different kinds of people in this country.

They seem to be at opposite ends of the spectrum in their beliefs regarding the role of government, and the role of USA in the world. They are deeply divided on what constitutes morality and ethics. They are seeing different visions of the future.

What is going on here?

Are we seeing the results of the "browning of America"???

Are we seeing the effects of technology and the information highway influencing the vote?

I personally cannot stomach Al Gore and his ilk. Apparently, the liberal Democrats feel just as strongly about Conservatives, and George Bush. What happens when you have almost half the population of a country with such strong negative feelings towards the winning administration?

I do know one result of all this, and perhaps it is a good thing. Many, many, many more Americans will become involved in the political process than have before. I know that my wife and I have found a new hobby to do together - we are going to become politically active. I encourage everyone to do the same.

God Bless Bush

Nash, THAT is the difference between the two camps.

Those that honor Personal Responsibility and Personal Accountability will of course accept the outcome.

It's the other side...in all these discussions....that can not.

<PUNT>

OK, let's here from the OTHER side.

If Bush is eventually declared the winner in the Florida "recount the recounts and then recount those recounts until Gore wins" attempt.....

Gore's surrogate, Warren Christopher, "left open the possibility that Gore would sue to overturn Florida's results if he doesn't prevail in the recounts." (From Atlanta Constitution, 11/13/00 "Counties Sweating Over Recounts)

My question is this.

If Bush simply ends up winning after the recount is complete and the absentee ballots are counted, are you Gore voters prepared to accept that?

....and Polk County, FL just announced a recount with another 100 for Bush.

So, what's your answer?

We'll have another re-recountof the count, I bet. No wait that's what this one is, isn't it? we'd have a re-re-recount of the count. When we get to the one with Gore up we quit, right? Even if the totals on the recounts are 5 to 1 for Bush, that last one counts?
