What'll happen to that spy if he is found guilty?

Execution?

Think the only way you could possibly get killed by the state in a lawful manner here in this nation is by being a traitor.

That dude sentenced three men to death, at least.

FWIW, I do not support capital punishment, even though I can see that it sometimes has a value. This one might jsut be it.

penalty in the US is death.
This is very necessary to put an example.

A person who kills others himself may not be given a death sentence. A traitor may not kill people but they put the safety of the whole country in jeopardy.
If you dont kill the traitor, there will be more traitors.

In the end, I'll wager he'll get off so lightly that "normal" people will be amazed at the leniency.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Death!

Has always been the punishment for Spys.

I'm not a big death penalty fan but when someone puts the whole country at risk I say we have to do something that will make the next spy wannabe think twice.

I don't know, Toad. If they have a tight case against Hanssen, I think they're gonna throw the book at him for all the damage he has done. I feel bad for his wife and six kids.

Sancho, did you ever see the History Channel program about Texas from 1985 to the year they passed a bill making it tough on criminals and built more jails?

I cried for the families of the victims of a couple a mass murderers in Texas...what they did in Texas was mild compared to what I would have done.

Gentlemen, the plea bargaining process has not even begun.

Further, there will things we wish to know and he will know them.

The horse-trading has not yet begun.

I say promise him anything to get the information we want.

....then kill him.

This is what SHOULD happen:

Cut off his left testicle and feed it to him with A1 steak sauce.   Tell him to reveal all his knowledge or else he will be fed his right testicle WITHOUT the A1 steak sauce.

Then, after he has divuldged all his information, cut off his right testicle and feed it to him WITHOUT the sauce.

Then shoot a bullit into him.

Yeah, if it was me, I would be like:

Ok, this is the year 2001, we no longer kill spies, so please give me the information you gave them and we will only give you a dishonorable discharge.

After he gives me the info, I hang him in Times Square, NY.

Hell...
we let the chinaman go, oh yeah, he was willie's buddy and he was only stealing NUCLEAR secrets ! Why do you think we'd treat this spy any different? I say we send him to Russia to live with his vodka drinking buddies and live in a cramped, damp, stinky apartment without heat .............

This spying and double agent stuff probably goes back to Neanderthal man. In actuality it probably serves a useful function in that it serves to "relieve pressure" between two opposing camps. If you know what the other guy is capable of it eliminates hysteria and imagined threats. I'm sure "leaked" information helped diffuse the Cold War.

This guy will probably end up getting a nice book deal and a made-for-TV movie.

I see now, the spy stopped spying in '88. He just sat there and minded his own business. Is that why they were searching landfills or was that a right wing diversionary tactic  thanks for the left version of the story blur
