Just found a box in the house with my old Airwalk shoes, Vision Streetgear, Vans etc, boards and a nice collection of VHS tapes including my favorite "Ban This"

Those were great times
Found "Ban This" on Youtube and had to watch it.. :D

i skated for about 4 years aged 13-17. was kick flipping down six sets and ollies down 10 sets, harcore street skaters we were :D had a bit of a fear with handrails though, i broke a wrist and elbow on one, and one of our skate group still has metal plates in his arm and a false front tooth. a real skater has nobbly shins :D

i gave up when i started mixing music and never took it back unfortunately.

i got out at the right time though, just before it went mainstream tony hawk for playstation mental.

lol

funny though, in our crew it was a mix of skateboarders and extreme inliners.  they were nuts and we had alot of respect for them.

true also though, that we tried the skates on and did mad stuff too, but they sucked on a skateboard :p

Skateboarding peaked both in manly skills and ultra hip street chic in the late 80's.

My two brothers skated then, they were pretty good, I was too big and clumsy but I loved those videos, Ban This, Public Domain, Propaganda, Hokus Pokus...
There's still a very battered Powell Peralta "Steve Caballero Mechanical Dragon" board somewhere in the basement, and those videos must be in some box there too.

I was pretty good and skated with the "in" crowd. Only streetskating tho, never put any effort into vert.

Got pretty bad after a while and im glad i left that enviroment and returned to my old. The partying with various substances and lack of respect for all things smart and established could have killed me in the end if i had been a tad dumber.

Of the group i skated with, there are a few junkies, one pro (world snowboard champion 2001), a cople of loosers and three (including myself) that turned out ok. Only happy memories now tho :)

We made a few videos that made it to TV and they may be around somewere too.. Perhaps they end up on Youtube :D

P.S. Tony Hawk was a looser. Way to clean.

Early-Mid 80's BMX'er here, but I had alot of friends that were into boards. I'm surprised I never broke any bones doing some of the stuff I did when I was a kid. I broke two bike frames though.

First bike was a GT Mach1, cracked the lower weld on the head tube during a race...decided to "go for it" over the triple whoops at the end of the track...bad mistake.

Then I got a Redline PL-20, snapped the seat post stem right off that thing when I crashed going off the first set of doubles coming out of the gate....was a technical malfunction that caused that one....I forgot to tighten the bolts for my front tire after changing an inner tube. Nothing like going airborne and having your front tire come off:O

Then I bought a Free Agent Pro XL frame and fork set and put all my Redline components on it. Best BMX bike I ever owned until it got stolen out of my garage:cry  I was in High School at that point and just gave it up after that. Looking back I wish I would have stuck with it. I was actually pretty good and had a chance at getting sponsored by Free Agent to go pro.

O'well, maybe in my next life:aok
