Can I put my tower next to my subwoofer? I know if my monitor gets within 2 feet of it the magnitism screws up the picture and will eventually break it. Will a sub also hurt a tower?

Not a good idea superdud. The magnets in subwoofers will do bad things to the data on your hard drives.

Have subwoofer 1ft away from tower. Never had any problems.

From what I have read two feet goes for the tower too. The sub woofer can mess with the optics for your cd/dvd drives I think. Also, it stands to reason if your tower is vibrating because of radiated sub sonic frequency's, so are your integrated circuits. I used to do PA work for rock bands and when I would tested my sound sound system in my house, the sub frequencys would blow out all the light bulbs.

Best to put it on the floor under the desk. Keeps it 2 feet away (if tower is on desk) but still works.

I have my tower on the floor. I use Boston Digital 2.1 BA735 speakers (just like these, but these aren't mine), and my subwoofer is about 1 to 1.5 feet from the case. I don't have problems with chips failing or HDs being wiped.Then again I have a metal case around a metal frame, that might help block the magnetic field from my HDs

I have a big subwoofer, that's why I'm concerned. It's a full sized 5.1 system with the sub weighting 30-40lbs. Right now I have my tower off to the side, well away of everything. I had it there while I was building it but am going to move it back to my desktop here in a bit. There's a nice little spot under my desk by my sub I could place it, but I guess I better not. I'll jus stick it above my monitor on one of the shelves.

you put my 15in pyles anywere near a pc or a monitor/tv and they will toast it faster then you can say ... Spitfire...

at 5 feet from the tv they can pull the colours on the screen .

Living in close proximity to such strong magnetic fields cannot be good for prolonged health. I'd try to figure a way to trap the magetic field inside the speakers if I were you (some sort or metal mesh inside the case of the speaker?)
