Didn't that firebase thing get a lot of use in Vietnam?

That's another retarded point, the "fight them there". "They" weren't there for a start, you attracted "them" there. You create more "them" by the minute.  Your firebase is now a full blown 4 way civil war with you in the middle doing a "deer on the headlights" impression.

Yep, and it sure worked awful well too.  If you want to get on the kick of the US lost to an inferior bunch of savages kick, get one thing straight.  The US lost because a bunch of liberal pansy arses started demonstrating and causing such a ruckus at home trying to create the liberal socialist one radish for all utopia, that it forced the military to fight the war like a liberal would, with one hand stuck up their arse....

If you honestly believe Al Quaida was not in Iraq before the war, then you are more naive than you act.  As for us creating more of them by the minute, it seems to me that the liberal froth you are spewing is affecting your brain... Iran, Syria, and Al Quaida create more, and THEY not us send them into the nation of Iraq to create havoc and instability.  It is the US that is daily kicking the crap outta these idiots trying to make Iraq a safer place, but hey, I guess we could have chosen the Spanish "head in the ground" tactic too...

Ohh the Knife in the Back... how cute. It's... archetypical, like the club in a  leopard skin-clad plushie caveman.

Meh, Saddam was way better at keeping them tight, he did it  cheaper and  without causing so much ruckus. I'll agree he was a bit  evil, but I thought you guys loved you realpolitiks.

Hi Bodhi,

I know you didn't ask for my opinion on this but you're going waaaay over the top. It's uncalled for and frankly counterproductive. You can get to the point that way where people who agree with you no longer will. Didn't you ever hear the old proverb that  you get more flies with honey than vinegar?

And please keep in mind as you are reading this, that I'm speaking as someone with more than a little to lose in Afghanistan and Iraq,  a lot of people I dearly love at the moment are soaking up the hatred of the Jihadis over there, so it's not for want of involvement that I'm humbly asking you to please chill a little.

Thanks for listening, we now return you to your regularly scheduled web war.

Way too much pain killers (surgery yesterday) and too little common sense led to this argument.

My apologies to takeda.  Even though I may not agree with your country or it's course of action it does not make it right for me to berate you for it.  Again I apologise to you takeda.

He was elected and he brought back the troops, just as he had promised. He subsequently increased the number deployed to Afghanistan, which was approved by all political parties and it's generally supported by everyone.

Of course, if the attacks had not happened, probably Zapatero would not have been elected, but the Popular Party ridiculous lies and deceptions regarding the attacks were their own doing. To this day they keep pushing conspiracy theories about the attacks being a conspiracy between elements of the police, the socialist party, spanish, french and moroccan secret services and ETA all disguised as Al-Q just to make them look bad. But they will also say that Al-Q made us leave Iraq... they are not that big on consistence.

Thanks takeda.   I wasn't trying to troll, piss you off.   I'm hearing things in another part of the world and needed clarification.   This is clarification.

Ciao!

On a lighter note:
Spanish Marine divers were preparing yesterday the landing area in Lebanon for the LAVs. Seems to be a hot zone:
