Control enemy ack
« on: September 12, 2006, 04:24:08 PM »
I wish that when you bail out and end up on an enemy air field that you could take controll of a manned ack gun.  Just walk up to it, shoot it a couple of times to kill the crew, than it becomes yours to kill the enemy on his own airfield.  I believe this is a realistic idea, not sure how hard it would be to program, but it would be fun to blast away with ack guns at the enemy aircraft at thier own base.

I cannot take credit for this idea, and I will let the one who thought it decide if he wants his name attached to it.

It's only realistic if everyone on the base were blind.

How would anyone parachute down to base being defended by Ack guns (as well as all the other armed personell that would have been there that this game excludes), kill someone with a pistol and take over a complicated machine that they have no training on and possibly can't read the language it is labeled with?

Sorry, but I think this is a crappy idea.

Well, I have bailed out and stood on the runway and shot aircraft trying to take off.  .45 rounds to the canopy does the trick.  While there I could see the manned ack up, but no one was shooting at me.  If only I could take control of the ack.

Yes, people would have to be blind, or at least not paying attention to what is happening.  It is hard to see a troop on the ground while flying around or driving a GV.

Just an option that I thought might be fun, especially at a vehicle base where the manned ack could do a good job on the hagars.

As to taking control of a gun, it seems realistic to you that you can jump from a fighter, to an attack plane, to a bomber, than to a tank, a jeep, and the manned ack, all in a few minutes.  It is a game, just trying to get some fun options for a downed pilot.

I actually watched a guy run around a port one time, de-acking the field with his .45.  He took out 3 guns, then towered out.  I thought it was the about the crappiest, hokie thing I've seen in the game yet.

Like I said, sorry.

It is a creative idea, but that game is called battlefield1942.  Its a lot of fun, but I could never quite get it to work right.

Still waiting for battlefield 2 to get chaper.........:(

That fun option is called re-uping in AH.

In reality that option is usually capture and sometimes toture.

we could go in completely the opposite direction from this and say if u bail of an enemy AF, and land there with your chute, you get captured, and not the same captured as when u bail over enemy territory, but captured as in you suffer a 15? minute penalty, untill you get "released" or whatever

i actually think this should apply to whenver you get "captured" would force pilots to make more effort to save their planes and make it make to allied territory

That incentive is already there, in the form of your perk point modifier and kill stats.  A ditch doesn't count as a "death" and you receive a .75 death modifier.  If you bail successfully you get a .5 death modifier.  If you are captured you get a .4 death modifier.  If I'm banged up, I always try to make it to friendly territory to either ditch or bail.
