Vacation time

I'm off to Hawaii in the morning, christianity is safe for a week.  :D

My wife and I are flying out to Waikiki with her sister & husband.  I'm guessing there probably won't be internet access in the hotel room, but that's ok.  I suppose I can survive a few days without the information nipple.

This is a family trip we decided to take a couple months after my wife's parents died earlier this year.  We wanted to all do something together as a family, so my wife, her sister, and her brother decided to fly to Hawaii.  Last month, her brother began feuding with my wife (he's a handsomehunk) (saying things like "he doesn't want to talk to her again" and threatening to sue her to get the money for the trip back, even though we all bought it together a few months ago).  He's a real class act.  Wifey has tried to get him to talk to us, but he's decided his stupid point is more important to him than family, so sadly him and his wife won't be coming along.  It's stupid, that's something like $1,600 lost.  What a maroon.

Well, we've decided to put him and his ******tery out of mind and enjoy the trip.  Some of you may remember that we visited Waikiki a few years ago for our honeymoon and went aboard the USS Honolulu, a 688 attack submarine with a close friend.  This trip, we'll rent scooters like before, head up to the Orange Bowl, and re-take some of the same pics we did last time.  We've both lost a lot of weight since because of the weight loss surgery, so we'll have good before & after pics.  I think the before pics are on my hallert.net website right now, I'll have to bring copies along.

We'll do an island tour, a sunset dinner, maybe go parasailing, and hopefully do some snorkeling.  I'm gonna find myself a stingray and just harass the hell out of it.

Anyone have any other suggestions?  I'll try and check the thread a couple times before we go and maybe I'll find a bit o' the net to drop in.

No suggestions....never been there.

But, Chairboy I wish you and the Mrs a wonderful vacation. Sounds like fun.

Always great to be able to spend quality time with just the Mrs occasionally.

Have fun!

Have a nice trip Chairboy. There is prolly a a church and a priest you can go and argue with over there. Just because you are on vacation from the club doesnt mean you have to let them off the hook that easy. :D

Hope you and the missus have a nice trip Chair. Hawaii is the only state I've never been to and I've always wanted to go.

Oh, and I hate you.;)

Take a road trip up the Palli Pass (heads over to the Marine base) and stop off at the over look.

While there imagine teeing up a golf ball on the grass between the parking lot and the low wall in front of the cliff and smacking the crap out of it. MartyB and I did that a couple of years ago when we were out there on buiseness. It was raining and no one was there so we knocked a couple of balls off the cliff out into the jungle. I shanked one real bad off the hozzle and it hooked over towards the road. Never heard any screeching of tires or metal bending so I guess I missed the road. MartyB was laughing so much after my shot he shanked one right into a 55 gal trash can 10ft away from him and it came flying back at me, missed and hit our rental car, setting off the alarm. It's cool to see a neon yellow golf ball go screaming off a cliff though.:D

Take a tour of the Dole pineapple plant also. It was kinda neat. Pearl Harbor is always a must. Also for cheap shopping and people watching the Flea Market at the stadium on Saturdays and Sundays is good for wasting 3-4 hours.

Yep, we're doing the Dole plant for sure, and the Arizona again as well.

Well, I'm off to the airport.  If you read about some sort of Tropical Storm Mek'a'li'mkai or something, I'm sure it'll be hitting us.  :D

Last time I was in Waikiki, my hotel had Internet access so I'm sure you'll have it too.

Get up early in the morning and go down to the beach and rent your self a surf board.  They rent them right on the beach for cheap.  Paddle out to where all the other surfers are and enjoy watching the sun come up over Diamond Head.  If you manage to catch a wave, it will probably be the closest thing to a religious experience you will ever have.

Given the choice to be anywhere in the world doing any thing, that's where I'd be.

Chair I had friends who went about 3 years ago and did a helicopter tour of the island(s). I saw the pics and they were fantastic. They claim it is the best way to really see Hawaii. You might want to consider doing the same.

Either way, have a great vacation.

Never been there, but my friend just got back. He took the family out to Turtle Bay, or Turtle Lagoon or Turtle something... It was a big party boat that went out to a reef and pulled a huge swimming platform. Kinda like an off-shore swimming hole. He said it was the coolest thing he's done on the islands.
