All I can afford is Yesterday. I may even have to slip back to last week just to pay for the dang TV.

Excuse me for being ignorant, but how does one 'get hd installed'?  I thought that HD was a service of the cable company/Satellite company that was piped via the program, and that your HD receiver was the output to your screen?

I don't have HD, can't justify it yet.  I'm still on the fence about buying a plasma, DLP, LCD TV.  The old TV works just fine! (Cheapskate statement :D)

And that was pretty funny funkypants.

Generally, the cable company (or a company they contract) will come out and set up you cable box (hd receiver) for you.  Do all the programming on site etc...  That counts as insallation in my book.

What if you TV has a HD tuner? Then its just a matter of them flipping a switch, really.

If the set has a built in HD tuner, it is for off air signals only, (i.e. channels 2-87) unless it is cable ready. In most cases cable ready receivers won't work because the signal is scrambled.

I live about 90 miles from the transmitters for Dallas/Ft. Worth and can pick up most all the HD signals well with a beat up Channel Master antenna. (Note: You MUST have an off air antennae or cable to get local stations in HD. Satellites do not carry local stations in HD.)
