It all depends on the perspective and what someone is used to.  Ghosting is still an issue, but to eliminate it, the manufcaturers use faster crystals.  Downside is the lack of color saturation and/or inaccurate color representation.

Most people do not care about the accuracy of the color, but I do and this is where most LCD's fall short, for me.  Most people who came from a CRT had the color temperatures off the scale and they liked it.  I cannot stand looking at a monitor which is running over 9000K.  You cannot get accuratte color represnetation from that, which is why I said most people do not care about accurate color.

I think some of the higher end LCDs are coming in with netter color control, or I read they were, but I really think most consumer computer users have no clue about the issue and do not care either.

It is kinda interesting to view a still on 3 or 4 systems and see the colors change though;)

I know im gonna get flamed for this, but my experience is, that its not very smart to go for the lowest bids when buying either 1. Monitor 2. Motherboard. If you have any concerns for longevity, features or factory guarantees that is..

My personal opinion is, that its quite easy to find "affordable" but quality products, if you forget straight number comparisons and spend a few days looking for roundups and guides. I also have certain manufacturers that i wouldn't spend a dime on anymore..They include anything coming from the Korea, Samtronics, Samsung to name a few..Then there is the LG, which usually manufactures under lease from piss poor brands like Philips..Altough LG will use every quality for quantity trick to get their price tags even lower.

I currently have 1 CRT and 1 LCD, both 19" from ViewSonic, manufacturer which seems to get quite good reviews mostly. They were in the lower medium price range when i bought them..
