So, that's the question. I'm running XP, on a totally fresh install, and I'd like opinions as to whether AH runs better without downloading service pack 2, or if it actually matters. Thanks for the help.

I don't see much differance, SP-2 has better security but some othe issues as well. Main thing is to load all of the MS update.

I have a SB sound card that says it requires service pack 2, sure enough once I installed the service pack it (the sound card) ran much "smoother" and several "issues" went away.

You definately want to install SP2 and all the security updates after that as well. Youy are wide open to various worms and viruses without it.
