Why 2 Late War Arenas?
« on: September 16, 2006, 10:55:31 PM »
Why is there 2 late ware arenas? Seems one of them is either full or close to it all the time, forcing many to go to Late War 2. Obviously the player base wants to fly in the LW, so why not make 1 larger arena of 500 instead of 2 smaller ones?

If he does that, then he may as well had just left it the way it originally was. I wish he had it where a 2nd LW arena would not open when the 1st one got close to full. Would make some try the other arenas and most likely in time would like them better. Once they learned to fly something other than LA7, spit16 or pony that is.

I think, that HTC made these 3 arenas, early mid and late, as a step towards Combat Tour to prepare gamers for the new game play mentality required.

The community will need to get out of their late war rides since CT will most likely start early war and move onto late war. We will be forced to find satisfaction in the game play, not in mastering just one airplane( It will be hard for me too since i pretty much just fly the p51, p40e, and p38 with any succes)

Its a shame everyone is still clawing at their late war rides/arenas. It seems HTC's best solution is to force players into the earlier arenas with these server limits even tho its possible to have larger ones it would defeat the purpose of what he is trying to do, if im even remotely correct in my assumption.  ( I hope this still makes sense to me when im sober).

I thought that when CT came out the MA would remain.

CT was not supposed to replace the MA.

I never said CT would replace MA. HTC has stated that MA and CT, as well as the other arenas would all be suported, CT is just another gameplay option. I dont see the players that always want "their" late war rides being really stoked when they realize they have to learn how to fly less than uber planes. Somehow HTC has to convince the majority of the playerbase that early war is fun, and having the new servers that split the aircombat into 3 time periods is encouraging that.

So far it has been stated that in CT you will live the life of a pilot in WWII, who knows how closely it will follow history and how much will be "what if" for the sake of playability. What it comes down to from my viewpoint and expirience is that most AH players are fans of the airplanes and care more about mastering their hotrod and kicking arse than they care about living the life of a WWII pilot.  HTC said that their are basicly 3 types of players, ones that enjoy furballing, ones that enjoy living like a WWII pilot and one more i cant remember, maybe the land grabbers?

Does the AH community just want to furball?

seems to me that they set it up so that whenever any of the 3 arenas gets to 75% capacity, a second arena opens. I have seen 2 late war arenas & now 2 early war arenas. Of course it would be great to have some actual staff let us know wtf is supposed to happen, but then they could be help accountable for when it doesn't.......:furious :noid

Its in the post of the friday upgrade, you can read it there.
"If one arena reaches 90 percent of its capacity a second one of that type is created".
