"NEW YORK (AP) -- Margaret Johnson might have looked like an easy target.

But when a mugger tried to grab a chain off her neck Friday, the 56-year-old Johnson, while riding in her wheelchair, pulled out her licensed .357 pistol and shot him, police said.

Johnson said she was in Manhattan's Harlem neighborhood on her way to a shooting range when the man, identified by police as 45-year-old Deron Johnson, came up from behind and went for the chain.

"There's not much to it," she said in a brief interview. "Somebody tried to mug me, and I shot him."

Deron Johnson was taken to Harlem Hospital with a single bullet wound in the elbow, police said. He faces a robbery charge, said Lt. John Grimpel, a police spokesman.

Margaret Johnson, who lives in Harlem, has a permit for the weapon and does not face charges, Grimpel said. She also was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and later released."

thats good, thats freaking good. A 45 yo man tryin to rob an old lady thats freaking sad, she should have aimed higher, we dont need garbage like that on the street. He's prob been in and out of jail his whole life, ship this guy to the moon or somethin or just kill him, wasteing my tax dollars supporting him in jail for what, for him to come out worst.

Harlem is a barrel a laughs, nothin but people standing around looking for trouble, on every corner and in every store front, its freaking sad. I went there a well back with a friend, every 3 blocks someone is tryin to sell u pot, that whole area lives in this imaginary rap video and dont know how stupid they look.

Yes great solution. Just stay out of the bad neighborhoods. That worked well on your continent from 1938-1944 huh?

Except you forgot that in between the 3 blocks of someone trying to sell you pot, someone else is trying to sell you crack, heroin, or coke.
Or sizing you up with eight of there friends, deciding if they should jump you just because your on there block.

I knew a kid from that area. He was working as a helper for the company i work for, and he would tell me how hard it is to try and make something of himself when all of his "friends" had the misery loves company attitude.

A responsibly armed society is a polite society. Also, a gun in hand is better than a cop on the phone.

Fun idea....If you ever DO need the cops to get there lickety split, when you call in just say you 'think you saw a gun' and they'll actually make it a priority.
