old MA vs the early war...
« on: September 17, 2006, 10:17:57 AM »
differences...

The big difference is of course seeing planes that never got used before and... the likelyhood that even more will be developed.

Another is the friendlier attitude...   I even flew bish and took some heat but got along in the end with even the BOP guys for the most part...  HT was right.

More six calls and salutes and less crying about how gawd and the internet robbed you of your kill/caused your death.  HT was right..

"join"  never even knew it existed or.. forgot it did.... so far 4 people have joined my plane... Talk about a way to learn... maybe what not to do but.... a way to learn.... HT was right.

slum behavior.... only one plane can runway dive now with impunity... the 190a5..  amybe the spit 9 but you don't see many...  you can take off and land without someone perched to vultch.

Great fites... I am sorely strained to land a few against planes that aren't much better than mine if at all.   People are beating me up regularly in there and it is fun.

I always flew early war planes, it was hard to see them because of all the spit's and La's.

I like the arena change. Now it is so easy to pick out the horde flyers and cherry pickers because they are crying the hardest on these boards!

There is a little problem with the ENY though, and i believe that would be cured simply by making it 2 countries and not 3.

I have not had this much fun in AH in a long time.

I'm giving it a shot though....

i also used to mostly fly the early planes. its nice now that when im low on fuel or ammo i can leave the fight without getting chased a whole sector by an LA7 or Pony. i've also seen a lot less HO'ing. not that it really matters to me since i've been guilty of it a few times (ok ok, a lot   :D  ).  about the eny thing, in the early arena it seems to me that the availible plane set is a little too small for eny. i feel that instead of disabling planes with a lower eny when the sides are off balanced maybe just disable the perk rides.  thats just my $.02

cav... you are pretty much explaining why I like the thing.

No deacked fields mean no "runway divers"   I don't care about high alt fights.. even in the the old MA I never got over 4k above ground level..   never liked the class of people you meet up high anyway.... if they want me they have to come down to my level anyway.

An f4f-3 would help even up the fights a little too.

so change countries.

The country you fly for doesn't matter, all the enemy icons are red.Thats what the ENY is for to make it fair for the weaker numbered countries because no one will switch.kinda reminds me of H2H.

No, I wont change countries sweet...I've been a rook for over four years, and I will remain a rook until I quit the game or die...One of the biggest reaons I stay in this game is to fly with my friends...And if I cant fly with them because of ENY, i'd much rather log, then fly against them

The early war arena is the most fun I have had in AH in years! I flew in there all day yesterday, from 70 people online to when it was full, and never had any problem finding anything from a 1v1 to a massive furball. I haven't that much AH in one day for about 2 years!

One comment though, the map right now is Mindanao, which is eleventy thousand times better for the early war than uterus, which has bases that are just too far apart. The furballs in the middle of Mindanao where the three countries meet are amazing!

One pleasant surprise is that a better caliber of pilot appears to be flying the EW aircraft.  As a Zero pilot I was pleasantly surprised to see pilots of Spits and 109's who know what a throttle is and actually provide some great scissoring fights.

Time will tell, but I wouldn't be surprised to find the late war arena will be home to the younger "Quake" crowd and the EW to be kinda like the FT, with the more serious pilots populating it.

Well out of all my negativity, I have to admit the fights are getting better in the EW arena...Definately a good place to learn/practice the scissors maneuver

Lazs,  Your observations are dead on.  I must admit that I had my doubts
about the new set up.  I flew in the EW arena for the first time tonight
and had a blast.  Flying the F4F is the most fun I've had with a plane
since I started here.

The Rook ENY at 9:00 pm EDT was a whole great big 3, all planes
available in the area were available for use.

I will be coming back to the EW.  I might even learn a little more about
ACM.
